The Insider's Guide To Shopping On Melrose

Are you looking for a high-end boutique or a style that you saw on the red carpet without breaking the bank?

Melrose has the best of both worlds. Located in the center of Los Angeles, Melrose is easy to access from all parts of the city and offers the constantly evolving fashion trends of the “moment”. Enjoy our insider’s guide to shopping on Melrose.

Fred Segal

This legendary shopping outpost really has it all. Imagine different boutiques with the newest trends all located in one building. This store was founded in 1961 and has expanded all the way to Japan! You can also buy their own Fred by Fred Segal brand which consists of plenty of comfy jeans and casual wear. Celeb spot in the Fred Segal Mauro Café while eating a delicious butter lettuce salad, a spaghetti aglio olio, or perhaps Frittata Verde with a side of freshly baked brioche. Don’t forget a crisp glass of the Côtes de Provence and you’re ready for some A-list shopping.

Kelly Wearstler

This LA-based designer carries plenty of stylish jewelry, gifts, home décor and clothes. The inside feels like a museum and is worth a visit whilst passing by the Melrose neighbourhood. Kelly’s lifestyle brand showcases special interior décor pieces that are owned by her famous clientele and influencers around the world. The Melrose location is the brand’s flagship store with various furniture pieces that include her own designed collection. (She has also designed for hotel groups like the Viceroy and Proper Hotel Group so she’s in good company). Purchase one of her 4 published coffee table books for a great gift or decoration piece.

Paul Smith

By now you must have seen one of LA’s most Instragrammed pictures, the famous pink wall. That’s the storefront of Paul Smith, one of the famous boutiques on Melrose, selling both women’s and men’s clothing, accessories and gifts. Sir Paul Smith started his empire in 1970 with just one store and now his empire has grown to over 300 locations around the world. He describes his own brand as being “classic with a twist”. No wonder you can always find a pop of colour in his designs! There’s also no need to look for parking in this busy area since they have a private lot.

Revolve

Revolve, the new kid on the block, exploded with its affordable, trendy clothes especially in Tinseltown. Even though they sell most of their clothing online, they do have a member’s only store on Melrose.  If you’re on the list, The Revolve Social Club is open to famous bloggers, celebrities, and special customers. Once you’re in you’ll have access to exclusive parties, private shopping brunches, and pop-up store invites. Enjoy the view of this beautiful California city on their rooftop while sipping cocktails and getting to know fellow fashionistas. It’s so “LA”.

Reformation

This was the first location to open, created by Yael Aflalo, the brain behind their first exclusive collection. The rest of the store’s brands are local and international but focus on sustainable materials or methods. If you want to buy stylish and environmentally conscious clothing, this is your spot! Reformation cares about the amount of water used to make your jeans, unlike brands that send their dirty water to the rivers, and the harsh chemicals go into dying your clothes. Once you start thinking about the concept of sustainability you will be shopping here in no time. The store design is simple, elegant, and showcases the Coachella-esque LA vibes.

Crossroads Trading Co

Founded by Jerry Block and Chip Gerken in 1991, the duo pushed the brand-new concept of recycling clothes to the retail market, which allows their customers to buy recycled clothes or sell their own. Crossroads also lets you trade your old rags for something new. They even sell some designer clothing and shoes including Christian Louboutin, Lanvin, Prada and more. The shopping experience is made even easier by having online style guides to update their customers on current trends. The Melrose store is conveniently located right in the middle of the shopping action next to many other affordable shopping boutiques.
