Cool, sky high living at Hotel Muse Bangkok

If Hotel Muse was a rock star it would be The Boss also known as Bruce Springsteen for those of you under the age of twenty who are reading this and wondering who I am talking about.

It is cool, edgy, dark, charming and definitely a crowd puller. And despite its high-rise size, Hotel Muse feels intimate, playful and elegant, featuring some of the most hedonistic wining and dining spots in town.

It is part of the MGallery collection by Sofitel which hotel chain falls under the wider umbrella of Accor Hotels.  The Accor hotels website describes the MGallery Collection hotels by stating that “each hotel stands as gateway into another world”.   Hotel Muse does this with a French finesse but edgy American rock star charm with its moody décor.

The rooms

Posh things generally mean monograms and stamping things to mark its arrival so to speak.  Whilst the Hotel Muse is unpretentious its hotel emblem was monogrammed practically everywhere – a constant reminder of where I was in case it slipped my mind. From the bed sheets and pillows to the shower floor tiles which had been carved cleverly with an artistic “M”.

The size of the room would make any traveller deliriously happy. To put into context the size of the room, the king size bed felt like a double bed and that was only the “normal room”.  Each room comes with a standalone bath tub perfect for a good soak after a day of walking around Bangkok’s streets. The room’s ceiling was subtly molded and had a black wood floor that complimented the intricate patterns on the deep grey wallpaper.  This gave the room a richly deluxe but comfortable feel.  Each room comes with a minibar which is neatly tucked away in the cupboards but I didn’t need it as the hotel’s Speakeasy rooftop bar gave me much better views a wider selection of drinks. Tea coffee and Wi-Fi are complimentary in the room. Flatscreen TVs with international radio, movies, in-house music, an iPod docking station, and own label toiletries.

Bars & Restaurants

The hotel offers a “salon” that’s perfect for the weary traveller or businessperson to which they can escape. It includes a bar with leather seating and velvet low sofas which you can sink into whilst watching the black and white Hollywood films they have playing on loop.

The speakeasy rooftop bar on the 25th floor is all about the views of Sukhumvit and Langsuan. Bangkok’s most underrated bar? Read more about it here!

There are two restaurants on the property, none of which I tried but my fellow travellers swore by them. One is the Medici, a basement restaurant that oozed oodles of charm with its ultra masculine décor and the other is Babette’s a steak house with a 1920’s themed Chicago styled eatery.

Location

It is well located on the quiet, distinguished and safe residential road of Langsuan Road, which has lots of massage parlours and street food stalls as well as some coffee shops, strategically placed between all key locations, including Siam, Sukhumvit and Silom.

This Hotel with its classic American and French feel come in highly recommended for value for money and luxury – two things that don’t always co-exist so harmoniously as they do in this superb hotel.
