5 ways to spend a girls night out in London town!

Doctor doctor I’ve got Saturday night fever!! Never fear, London is here!

We’ve listed five of the best neighbourhoods to shake your tail feathers.

The Posh One

Start your night at my favourite bar in allll of London, Mr Fogg’s Residence tucked away behind a forgotten car park. You will need to be on the list but don’t take things too seriously! The butler will show you the goodies Phileas Fogg has brought back from his travels. Take his advice on the cocktail menu and once suitably lubricated head round the corner to Sexy Fish.

This is a very sexy restaurant indeed, you will need a reservation but don’t worry if you don’t eat fish because they do a great vegan menu. If there is a group of you, I recommend booking the private dining room as inside you will find the second largest privately owned aquarium in all of Europe. Now that you are fed and watered, just up the street is Mahiki. Practically a nightlife institution, you can book a private room for karaoke and you must order one of their famous treasure chest cocktails!

Park Chinois, Mayfair

Another favourite would be Park Chinois for one of the bet Chinese meals you’ll have in London. Sit upstairs in exceedingly plush banquets with live music or head downstairs where they have a variety of shows every night. Next door, party on the night away at Charlie’s. Nab yourself onto the guest list beforehand. It’ll be a night to remember.

The Unexpected One

Soho nights should always start early with a few negronis at the tiny Bar Termini. They make the best negronis this side of Italy but tempting as it is, don’t spend your whole night here wander over to Bocca di Lupo on Archers Street. Don’t assume it will be just like all the other Italian restaurants you have been to, you will find some surprises on the menu. Reserve the wonderful private dining room if this is going to be a special girl’s night out.

I know it’s always tempting to gorge on Pasta and bread but you must not because you really should have two desserts. You didn’t expect me to say that in this low carb healthy living world, did you! Well sometimes you have to go hard or go home. The dessert at Bocca di Lupo is excellent but the owners also have Gelupo just across the street. This is London’s best ice cream in my opinion so after dinner head over there for coffee and a scoop of gelato. My favourite flavour is saffron vanilla, the pistachio is excellent and for something unusual try the avocado ice cream.

Once fed and watered, head to Archer Street bar, it’s almost next door. The cocktails are ace and aspiring West End performers moonlight as bar staff, breaking into song every ten minutes or so. The crowd is fun loving and if you’re up for a sing song this is the place to go.

Alternatively, cross the road and head to the Ham Yard Hotel for cocktails galore. Part of the Firmdale Hotel Group, hang out on the tree-lit patio area outside, or head into the buzzy bar area and let hours pass by.

The Hipster One

Head straight to my favourite street food market, Dinerama. It’s great for groups as everyone can purchase their own food and drink from the multiple vendors. I recommend going upstairs to the wine bar to stake out a table but pick up some yum buns and yumplings (steamed buns and dumplings) before you head upstairs. Opposite Boxpark you will find a small outpost of London Shuffle club, this old school game is back in fashion. It’s easy to learn and you will have a great as the DJ spinning tunes whilst you taste some rum cocktails. When you’ve had enough, Book Club is round the corner. I’m not sending you to a library, this a really fun club with all the themed nights e.g. Madonna night, 80s night, girl power night. Throw all the shapes!

Dinerama

The Wild One

Tonight will centre around a newcomer to the London club scene, Reign. This giant club in Piccadilly is where all the celebrities are heading. As well as the big name DJ’s that play, there are also shows though the night, some risky and some more risque. With fire eaters and drag queens, this won’t be a night you easily forget. Dress to impress and call a couple of weeks in advance to get a table. You definitely want to be the right side of the velvet rope!

Reign Piccadilly Circus

To ensure your group has enough stamina for the madness of Reign start your evening with dinner and cocktails at Marcus Wareing’s Tredwells or at the lovely Cafe Monico on Shaftesbury Avenue which is part of the Soho House group.

The Secret One

This is a part of London that many Londoners hadn’t heard of until some great restaurant started opening up here a couple of years ago. Even if they have heard of it, so many Londoners haven’t been here, being distracted by the very popular and chic Upper Street a stone’s throw away.

Exmouth market is not actually a market now, it’s a pedestrianised street with gorgeous boutique and restaurants either side. I recommend an espresso martini at Exmouth Grind to get warmed up. Book ahead to get a table at Moro, the food is exceptional and full of curious favours mixing savoury and street. But now I’m leading you to London’s newest hangout and stay alert it’s not not easy to find. At the end of the market you will see a brown door that says “Tradesmen’s Entrance”, go down the stairs and you will find yourself in Hester’s Hideout. You must order a round of the gin based Chinaman’s nightcap to get the party started. Although small, this intimate speakeasy club has a great party atmosphere with rotating performers including singers, tap and burlesque dancers. You’ll love it.
