Awasi Iguazu, Argentina For laid-back adventurers

With 14 individual villas, all equipped with a personal guide and four-wheel drive vehicle for excursions, this new resort on the Argentinian side of Iguazu Falls is a haven for nature lovers, and just opened in February. The vision to create private, intimate spaces shaped the design of the villas, each of which come with a plunge pool, patio with plush lounge chairs and the option of in-room spa treatments. As rooms are decorated with natural elements, expect wooden walls and floors for a warming, earthy feel that’s balanced by large glass windows so that you can enjoy a view of the jungle from your deep, soaking tub.

Double villas start from $1,520 (£1,069) per night, based on two people sharing, in low season; increasing to $2,630 (£1,849) in high. Fully inclusive of local airport transfers, alcohol, food, a personal guide and a private 4×4.

Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Andamans For romance

This secluded luxury resort is the ideal romantic getaway as it’s set on acres of land on picturesque Havelock Island. Spend your days relaxing on the beach, sipping cocktails or take a more active approach by kayaking in the mangroves or diving in the coral reefs. While it may be a hike to get to there, the sparkling blue-green waters, stretches of white sand and pampering services of the staff will more than make up for the journey. Head to The Settlers for a treat. After traveling through the Andamans, the executive chef created a menu representing the different cuisines of the region to sample here.

The inaugural offer for the Delux Villa starts at INR 25000 (£276) per night.

Start the morning with coffee from the bar (modelled after the 300-year-old Cafe Florian in Venice), spend the day lounging on the plush couches in the Library Bar and stay the night to enjoy craft cocktails from bar director, Leo Robitschek (also director for NoMad NY).
