Citizen Femme Hotlist: 13.07.18

When it’s summer time, we don’t just want to just eat ice-cream, we want an all-encompassing ice cream experience. It’s one of our favourite picks in this week’s Citizen Femme Hotlist!

From Hermès to ice cream, the re-birth of the infamous Ministry of Sound to skincare faves, we have got it all for you. Enjoy this week’s hotlist.

GO HERE Hermès pop-up

Welcome to the brilliant Hermès brilliant pop-up café. Until July 14th (so get in there quickly), sit amongst 3000 ping pong balls held up with acrylic sticks. Creative duo Isabel + Helen, also responsible for the kinetic ‘Michievous Machine’ windows currently on display in the Bond Street, Cadogan and Dublin stores, created the installation which is inspired by British artist Nigel Peake’s porcelain tableware, ‘A walk in the garden’. ‘We wanted to recreate “A walk in the garden” by abstracting flowers into their simplest form. Repeating them on mass to create a sea of undulating colour, transforming the concrete terrace into a surreal landscape’.

The café occupies the second-floor terrace of the mid-century modern Grade-II listed Time & Life Building and is accessible from the interiors section of the store. This enclosed outdoor courtyard was revealed to customers following the 2015 refurbishment with a reclining Henry Moore figure at its heart.

Step away from the Bond Street bustle and escape here for tea, coffee and petit fours. Unless you get distracted by the rest of the store on the way.

Address: 155 New Bond St, Mayfair, London W1S 2UA

TRY THIS An immersive ice-cream experience

SCOOP: A Wonderful Ice Cream World is a celebratory show that will explore the past, present and future of ice cream. The work of Bompas & Parr, the multi-sensory experience connoisseurs, known for their awe-inspiring pop-ups.

They will have you walking through luminescent caves complete with glow-in-the-dark ice cream, experiencing a sub-zero ice chamber to taste a vanilla ice cream cloud and trying unusual flavours like a daffodil flavoured ice that was around back in 1750. We have a lot to learn from the Georgians!

You’ll also be able to explore the world’s largest never before seen collection of ice cream paraphernalia collected by Robin and Caroline Weir as well as artwork ranging from the first pictorial evidence of an ice cream cone to cells from animation houses Disney and Looney Tunes and an original Andy Warhol print.

Travelling back in time you’ll meet Ida Cooke, the fictional star of Agnes B Marshall’s Cookery School, known as the Victorian ‘Queen of Ices’ and Ida will be sharing some of her recipes and encouraging guests to try different iced concoctions. Or if you’re over 18 you’ll be able to see The Dark Side of Ice Cream, and yes, there is one! If you ever thought ice cream vans were a little creepy, then you’d be right. Back in 1980s Glasgow, they hid rival criminal organisations who conducted their violent turf wars out of them.

To enter (and leave) you’ll have to go through the brilliantly named Conehenge, the gallery’s café, and most likely with all this talk of ice cream, you’ll be craving one. Here you can tuck into classics including candied fruit or try a Bompas & Parr original named ‘Bliss Point’ –

The launch coincides with the 300th anniversary of Mary Eales’ Receipts the first printed volume to feature ice cream in an English publication. It also marks the 399th anniversary of the first ice-house built in Britain in Greenwich Park.

SCOOP: A Wonderful World of Ice Cream will be taking place until 30th September at Gasholder 11, 1 Lewis Cubitt Square, London. N1C 4BY

CARRY THIS Celine medium big bag in textured canvas

Celine bags have long been an investment style piece.

This is possibly the most distinct style in the handbag range. This bag changed the luxury fashion game when it was launched in 2009, as designer Phoebe Philo masterfully calculated the exact proportions of every woman’s perfect roomy bag, without them even knowing they needed it. ‘It’s part of a wardrobe, a practical ABC of clothes. ‘ It is a true IT bag, A-listers from Blake Lively to Gwyneth Paltrow have declared it their ultimate carry-all.

We love this bag! It’s a must for Summer. The textile decorated with architectural lines of this in textured canvas is combined with the noble leather of the handles and fastening link. Carry it on your shoulder, like an urban tote bag, on a waxed jacket and slim-fit jeans. You’ll stand out with your very own Celine style.

The Ministry is for these people – independent creatives who light the sparks that become cultural wildfires.’ Descriptive.

The Ministry will feature an impressive 21m-bar spanning the entire ground floor serving tea, coffee, smoothies, and everything else you’d expect from a bar.
