Privacy and Polo Vibes at Dubai’s Desert Palm

Travelling to Dubai? With rapid construction and unique projects not found anywhere else in the world, Dubai is an exciting oasis in the desert. Uncover this luxurious gem in Citizen Femme’s review of Melia Desert Palm hotel Dubai, a calm respite providing some privacy from the busier elements of city.

Located a twenty-minute drive from many of the popular attractions in the city, the property is a sanctuary complete with lush polo fields, palm trees, water features, and a picturesque pool. Posh equestrian details are found throughout the hotel, which lends itself to a modern, sophisticated design. A smaller venue with a limited number of keys, Desert Palm offers modern rooms and large private villas for discerning travellers and families. Given the location, renting a car, or requesting taxis in advance with the friendly concierge is advisable.

Throughout the year, guests can find shopping festivals and concerts, pristine beaches and cultural exhibits, all ensuring there is always something new to explore.  If planning a trip, schedule time between November and April for the best weather – temperatures spike well over 40C in summer months!

The rooms

There are multiple categories to choose from at Desert Palm, including a selection of rooms, suites, and villas. If its in your holiday budget, nab one of the villas. Rare to find in the city, the spacious villas include a completely private pool, Ren toiletries, an outdoor shower, sun loungers and other outdoor seating. The upper villa categories also have a kitchen. Suites within the main building are larger than average for the city, and offer a stylish layout.

Eating & drinking

Given the number of rooms at Desert Palm, the number of food and beverage outlets are slightly limited, but offer a range of choices. Start your night with a drink at The Polo Bar, and in cooler months, dine al fresco at Rare, overlooking the polo fields. The venue also offers indoor seating, and is known for its range of protein dishes, cooked on an open wood fire grill. You can also dine in your villa or suite. Besides the usual room service, a private BBQ can be arranged. There is international all day dining at Epicure, located near the pool, and Red Bar offers an exclusive range of cocktails — slide into one of the saddle seats for a memorable holiday photo.

Samāna Spa

The epitome of privacy in Dubai’s desert palm. Slip further into holiday bliss by booking a treatment at the Samāna Spa, long known for being one of the best spas in Dubai. Home to an extensive menu of treatments, there are a selection of signature experiences, including the Samāna Retreat Journey (with half and full day options), Tisserand Aromatherapy, or an Eminence facial. Both hotel and spa guests are welcome to lounge in the sauna, ice room, or chromotherapy shower experience. Post treatment, sip herbal tea and read through magazines in the intimate relaxation room.

With extra perks well above the average hotel in Dubai, Desert Palm ensures guests have a luxury experience. There is a large, highly modern gym with well maintained equipment to keep visitors on an active schedule, and fitness classes are available. Other amenities include access to stables, which offer horseback riding and polo lessons (additional expenses are involved), a large public pool area, and tennis court. When polo is in season, the property takes on a different vibe altogether, and matches are an exclusive event to take in.

A perfect balance to busy Dubai, Melia Desert Palm is an excellent location to have a memorable stay (or one-of-a-kind wedding). The friendly, international staff will ensure your visit is an unforgettable one.
