Where To Go Next Month: The February Edit

Dry January has ended and what has felt like the longest month in the history of time is over, February is looking to add a bit more sparkle back into our lives; whether in the form of vitamin D or the last days of snow season, we take you through our guide on where to go next month.

Munich, Germany

From neo-gothic to baroque architecture, there is something for everyone in this culturally rich city. February will still see snowfall in the Bavarian capital so be prepared for a winter wonderland excursion in-between the beer halls and Nymphenberg Palace. And if things get too frosty, there’s always the Roman baths at Müllersches Volksbad. If you wanted to go all out with decadent palace tours, I’d also highly recommend a day-trip to Neuschwanstein Castle; the original source of inspiration for Disney’s ‘Sleeping Beauty’ castle which also looks magical in the snowfall and great on your Instagram.

Aspen, Colorado

Speaking of winter wonderlands, February would be a great time to visit one of the most famous and beautiful mountain town in Colorado. Aspen has been long revered as the place to go and be seen; whether you’re a seasoned skier or prefer the après-ski, the beautiful mountain tops and fluffy snow makes for a wonderful and romantic trip.

If you’re more the adventure type; Aspen also offers a wilderness experience from horseback riding to snowboarding without breaking the bank.

Bahia, Brazil

It’s party time in Brazil with the arrival of Carnival in February, and what better way to join in with the festivities than in Bahia; the north-eastern state and birthplace of Afro-Brazilian culture. Here you’ll find bigger, longer and louder celebrations, where drumming troupes host street parties playing the region’s signature axé music: a fusion of reggae, merengue and salsa. Don’t forget your feather headdress.

Amsterdam, Holland, Where to go next month

The Netherlands

For an alternative Valentine’s getaway (Paris is so cliché), head to Amsterdam, where even just a walk along the canals is sure to set hearts fluttering- head along to Amsterdam’s famous Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge). Legend has it that couples who share a kiss on or under this beautiful little bridge over the River Amstel will be blessed with everlasting love. Winter also continues through February in Amsterdam and the ice skating rinks are still filled with locals and visitors alike, while entertainment such as touring musical acts and museums hosting the greats provides fun for all.

Singapore

If you’re anything like me and went to see ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ more than once, you’ll also be dying to visit the decadent and over-elaborate island-city state of South East Asia. Once you’ve stepped foot outside of the luxurious airport (including a free movie theatre), be prepared to have all five senses overwhelmed; from Singapore’s beloved street food market to the tall Sky Trees at Marina Bay Sands. It’s also one of the safest places in the world to wander around so feel free to literally get lost in this crazy, rich world. Singapore also commemorates its Bicentennial year this year – a commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Sir Stamford Raffles landing in Singapore, which was one of the key turning points in the country’s 700-year history.
