Spa of the Month: Talise Spa at Jumeirah Port Soller, Mallorca

Hotel spas in sun-filled Mediterranean destinations often don’t take advantage of the warm weather/the views/the al fresco life. Talise Spa at Jumeirah Port Soller is different… It practically sings its mountain range vantage from the rooftops.

And why wouldn’t you? The infinity-meets-hydropool overlooks the magnificent Serre de Traumuntana mountain range (so good, it’s been granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status). Even the sauna has a decadent window view so you’re not missing out as you get your detox sweat on.

Here’s the lowdown on May’s Spa of the Month, Talise Spa at Jumeirah Port Soller. Don’t forget your SPF and sunglasses…

SHOP THE ESSENTIALS

Work that laidback spa vibe with these suitcase essentials. Here’s our edit for lounging in this destination Port Soller spa…

The Lowdown

Besides ‘the’ views (did we mention those?), this is a 2,200 sq m Mega-spa (with a capital M). As well as the 10 treatment rooms – most with scenic mountain views – you can switch between the heated outdoor hydropool and huge thermal area and easily chill out for an entire afternoon. The vast thermal area has everything from bio sauna to salt bath room.

THE VIBE

Talise Spa is exactly what you’d want from a modern destination spa. White, bright, and packed with natural sunlight. It means almost every part of the communal spa zones, from chill-out zone to treatment room, is beaming with natural spa-glow daylight. Take a swimsuit and shades and enjoy the indoor-outdoor vibe that you only get from a spa in the Med during high summer. If you want something different from the facial/massage norm, there’s also Talise Spa Rituals (the longest is a whopping six hours) that offer more of an experience.

THE SIGNATURE

There are trees weighed down with giant oranges and lemons everywhere you look in Port Soller so the Talise Signature Massage (€150 for 60 minutes) feels very apt. Using orange essential oil, there’s a heavenly combination of pressure points, stretches, and long and short massage moves to ease out muscles. The final five minutes includes iced cold stones smoothed over your face to relax and depuff. It’s also worth checking out the ‘Sunset in Mallorca’ spa ritual: a thermal circuit, citrus body wrap and aromatic massage topped off with dipped fruit and champagne (€180 for three hours). Time it with the real life sunset dipping behind the mountains for optimum Instagram points.

THE BEAUTY KIT

All face and body treatments at Talise Spa are Natura Bissé or Aromatherapy Associates. You can also get Margaret Dabbs nail treatments. Beware of the temptations in the spa boutique, which also stocks independent brands of swimwear, accessories, jewellery and sunglasses – we went ‘window shopping’ every single time we visited the spa.

THE EXTRAS

This isn’t your average sauna-and-steam-and-that’s-it thermal area. At Talise you can expect to find a bio sauna, hammam suite, experience showers, steam bath, ice fountain and salt bath – each one impressively decked out and deliciously scented. Our favourite? The unique salt bath room, which feels like you’re sitting in some kind of balmy, salty rain shower.

CF SPA TIP

If you’re just as obsessed with ‘that’ mountain outlook as I was, ask your therapist to leave the curtains open in your treatment room. A relaxing massage accompanied by a bonus sunset glow over the mountains is something special.
