Top 16 Minis For Your Summer Weekend Away

Flying out for a long weekend is the best way to beat the summer in the UK that comes and goes every single day. But no matter where your base is, enjoying a weekend away in the summer is a given and if you’ve mastered light packing you are probably only taking hand luggage with you.

Fani Mari puts together 16 products to pack in your carry-on bag, that are TSA-approved. No more extra packing or having to throw out big bottles of skincare at the airport with these under 100ml products, as well as some cheeky extras that don’t count as liquids.

THE TRAVEL BAG

Let’s start with the bag: this will hold your beloved liquids safe and will take you through security in record time. Plus, you won’t have to waste any of the single-use plastic baggies they give out at the airport. Though in some cases, they might make you swap bags, but I’ve only ever had this issue twice after travelling with clear zip pouches for years.

THE DEODORANT

You might have noticed a focus on natural deodorants in the past few years, people changing their routines, removing aluminium deodorants in favour of kinder alternatives. The Malin + Goetz eucalyptus deodorant has been around for a decade, it’s aluminium, alcohol and fragrance free, and this mini version will be your new favourite. Its pleasant scent comes from the eucalyptus oil that together with citronellyl, both of which are odour-neutralising.

THE SPF

Sunscreen should be worn every single day all year round, rain or shine, but it’s of course even more important while on holiday. The latest offering from REN is good for your skin – the zinc oxide also helps with blemishes – and the environment, created using 50% recycled materials for the tube and 100% for the cap (hence its grey colour). It’s great for oilier skin types leaving a matte finish, with a broad-spectrum protection of SPF 30.

THE CLEANSER

This 3-in-1 cleanser in a stick is the perfect multi-tasker to take off makeup, exfoliate and nourish the skin. Not to mention its stick form makes the Tri-Balm the perfect travel companion, that won’t leak in your bag, and it’s suitable for all skin types. Use day or night to remove makeup, sunscreen and grime from your face.

THE MASK

Another great multi-tasker, Nicolas Travis launched Allies of Skin with this great product – a thick but not greasy moisturising cream that can be used as a mask too. This genius product will keep your skin soft and supple post sun and sea, as well as on the flight. The hyaluronic acid will hydrate, and the added brighteners and antioxidants will protect from pollution and environmental aggressors.

THE BRONZER

This little pot of gold by BYBI can be used on cheekbones, lips or lids to enhance your natural tan. It’s a mix of their hero multi-purpose Babe Balm plus sustainably sourced mica powder for the perfect buildable glow. BYBI stands for ‘By Beauty Insiders’ and was set up by Elsie and Dominika, the natural beauty and wellness experts behind the ‘Clean Beauty Insiders’ platform.

THE HAIR TREAT

Smoothing and perfect to combat frizz the Amika shampoo and conditioner will be your hair’s best friends post sun and sea. The avocado and shea butter will soothe and protect damaged or coloured hair.

THE ALL-IN-ONE

Post-shampooing you have to use this new cream by star hairstylist Luke Hesherson that will do almost everything. It will protect from heat, it will prime, it will give your hair shine, it can also be used as a texturiser, curl definer and even as a mask when your hair is specifically dry – all this from simply one product? Life changing.

THE TINT

Make Beauty are the perfect multi-purpose brand, especially if you don’t want to carry or wear too much makeup when on holiday. The bubble-gum pink shade of this lip and cheek stick will suit everyone and is buildable. Can be applied on lids instead of shadow too!

THE WATER RESISTANT UV

Shiseido is well known for creating excellent sunscreens, and this transparent UV stick is perfect for travelling. The unique technology means this is water resistant for 80 minutes making it perfect to apply all over the body (or face) for a day by the beach.

THE BROW GEL

Fluffy, natural and full brows are what we are all aiming for these days and the new Iconic London Brow Silk. This unique product is a hybrid between a soap and brow gel that will hold your brows in place all day long, paired with their Bespoke Brow Groomer for perfect application. Plus, it’s not technically a liquid!

THE CONCEALER

Getting a spot while on holiday or after a flight is a common occurrence for many and the Magic Away concealer by Charlotte Tilbury will be your saving grace. Apply on spots or under eyes with the super-convenient sponge applicator and blend a bit with your finger.

THE EYE RESCUE

Post-flight or after a night out the new Patchology aromatherapy eye gels will sooth and hydrate your eyes thanks to the tea-infusion of hibiscus, rose and lotus flower, not to mention they smell amazing. Leave them on for 10 minutes (or longer) and apply them even over makeup.

THE MAKE-UP REMOVER

Micellar water will remove makeup and SPF and is great as a first cleanse, but the limited liquid allowance can be tricky – that’s where the new Omorovicza peachy pads come in. Infused with micellar water, the pads will gently clean your face in one sweep and the peach, patchouli and rose will leave a lovely scent behind.

THE HAIRBRUSH

Another non-liquid but very essential addition in your bag is a hair brush, but the Manta isn’t just any hair brush. It will very gently detangle wet or dry hair thanks to the completely unique fully flexible design. Also, it’s heat resistant so can be used while drying your hair too. Top tip; use it in the shower while shampooing your hair for a great scalp massage that will relax you while promoting hair growth.

THE DRY OIL

A cult favourite, the multi-use dry oil by French Nuxe is a holiday essential. Not only its scent will transport you to a magical, tropical beach but it will also hydrate and give the most perfect glow to body, hair and even face if you have dry skin. If your hair is particularly dry, add a few spritzes of this in your hair mask for a boost of hydration. The scent is a mix of sweet almond, hazelnut, macadamia and camellia. The inclusion of the vitamin E will restore and help with discolourations, thanks to its highly restorative properties.

THE MASCARA

A mascara will always be needed for even the simplest makeup looks, why not add this popular US import to your makeup bag? The Milk Makeup Kush mascara includes CBD oil instead of beeswax (a common binding ingredient in mascaras), making this 100% vegan. The full brush will give your lashes heaps of volume in seconds.

THE SERUM

New Aussie brand Beached is perfect for a summer getaway. Simply mix in moisturiser, or apply on its own instead of a base. It’s just not about the bronze though, as this lightweight sparkling serum contains kakadu plum, a very powerful antioxidant a high source of vitamin C, as well as some natural ingredients that protect the skin against pollution. The brand is natural, cruelty-free, 100% recyclable, and against photoshopping their campaigns!
