Suitcase Series: Super Stylist Angie Smith

If you’ve recently said ‘I want that’ about a celebrity wearing a killer outfit on your television, the likelihood is that she’s been styled by Angie Smith.

Angie is the stylish secret weapon that every well-dressed TV star has on speed dial, and now she’s curated her own collection of casual wear (fyi, she describes her own style as ‘relaxed’) for FatFace.

According to Angie, a capsule wardrobe is an “absolute necessity” and her style philosophy is always “less is more” – worth noting for vacation packing. Her own everyday wardrobe has recently seen some upheaval thanks to a big move from London to Sydney.

So how does a super-stylist like to vacation? From Fleetwood Mac playlists to poolside margaritas, we delve into the suitcase psyche of Angie Smith…

What is the first trip you remember taking?

I remember going to Italy when I was six and first discovering Italian food.

Which holidays have been your favourite to date and why?

I went camping around France for six weeks when I finished university and that was pretty special.

Where or what is your escape?

I’ve just moved to Sydney so I’m having fun discovering that side of the world. I feel like my day to day life since I’ve moved to Sydney is a bit of an escape and I constantly have to remind myself that I am NOT on holiday!

Do you get away often?

Not as often as I’d like. I’m in the process of learning to drive and getting a camper van to do up so I can do smaller trips more often.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve taken from your travels?

You never regret travel so whenever you get the opportunity, do it.

Where would you travel with friends?

Somewhere with lots of opportunity to dance all night long.

What’s your idea of a luxury holiday?

I like to go somewhere as remote as possible. I love camping and the quietness that comes with it.

Where do you get your holiday inspiration?

Mostly from Instagram, recommendations and overhearing other peoples’ conversations!

If you could sit next to anyone – dead or alive – on a long-haul flight, who would it be?

Kristen Wiig, but in her character from the Bridesmaids movie.

How do you recover from jet lag?

I stay up for as long as possible so that I’m really tired and take some melatonin oral spray. I also make sure that I get up at a decent time the next morning and do some exercise. Coffee always helps too!

Your flight’s delayed an hour and your phone’s out of battery. How do you pass the time?

People watching.
