The Beauty Haul Diaries: Suman Jalaf

Suman Jalaf is the woman behind the best microbladed brows in London. From Kate Moss to actresses Goldie Hawn and Emilia Fox, to Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, you’ll know why she is the one to trust with your brows.

But its not only London that gets the Brow Queen tending to your brows. She is now global, collaborating with W Hotel Doha, The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, the Four Seasons Geneva Spa, the Marriott Hotel Bahrain, the list goes on.

We delve into the brow Queen’s suitcase psyche…

What are your must-do beauty rituals/treatments before you travel?

The night before I travel I have a bath using Herbivore Detox Soaking Salts after which I use Kora Organics Noni Glow Body Oil. I am also a huge fan of Rituals The Ritual of Karma Holy Lotus & Organic White Team Cream.

I use a dry brush for cellulite and ZO Oraser Cellulite Control and I put on Kerastase Masquintense Thick Hair masque to nourish my hair before a flight.

How do you adapt your beauty regime when you travel?

I do a little less when I travel to a hot country as my skin tends to look better in the sun. I like to use a more vibrant shade of lipstick in hotter countries and always use an SPF50 as opposed to my everyday factor 30 (Sisley or Alumier sunscreen on my face).

I use Vita Liberata Body Blur and pHenominal Organic Tan Infused Cloths to give my body a little bit of colour but other than that I prefer natural tan.

What’s the best way to downsize your at-home beauty product haul for travel?

I always overpack! You never know when you might need something! I’d hate to be without something I really wanted to use.

Do you prefer to pack travel minis or full-size beauty staples?

I like to take full-size products with me as I love having them in my bathroom – they are a bit like art for me! The only exception is a travel size Venemous Kiss fragrance by Ex Nihilo which I love.

Do you have a regular plane beauty routine?

I use a Caci Revive Hydro Eye Mask as I board the plane; the algae is good for plumping the skin and the hyaluronic helps with hydration.

I follow this with an MZ Hydra-Lift Golden Facial Treatment Mask or Knesko Nanogold Repair Collagen Face Mask; the nacinamide helps to brighten the skin making it look less fatigued after a flight. I use a jade roller or a gua sha tool to aid absorption and also do some lymphatic drainage.

I put some Carmex on my lips, use some Dr Bronner Lavender Hand Sanitizer followed by some Chanel hand cream (which smells divine!) and then settle down to sleep with a Slip Silk Eye Mask on.

How do you overcome jet-lag skin/eyes when you land?

I take Beauty Molecule Fountain supplement for hydration, use the Caci Eye Mask again and apply some Epionce Intensive Nourishing Cream on my face.

I also use Kahina Giving Beauty Brightening serum when I return which is absolutely the best stuff!

What’s been your favourite country to shop for home-grown beauty products?

I love picking up really cool things in French pharmacies and there’s nowhere better than India for natural, herbal products for body, hair and skin.

Favourite vacation spa so far?

Eden Club Tangiers – It’s my place to escape to and I love the weather there. The hammam is out of this world and it’s so good for the body, mind and soul. The body scrubbing and massages are particular favourites.

Mandarin Hotel London

Mandarin Hotel London

Mandarin Hotel London – I love the swimming pool and spa. I have a membership there and love it for being uncrowded, spacious and tranquil.

So, what are your top skincare tips when travelling?

I put my hair in a bun using a Syd Pin by Syd Hayes to make it look a little more fancy! I love my hair to smell good so use Byredo Gypsy Hair Water Hair Spray.

I like to use a primer or BB cream when I’m travelling and find I don’t need much else.

I love to put on a little lipstick and my favourite brands are Tom Ford, Lipstick Queen, Bobbi Brown and Chanel

I pack a silk pillow case as they are gentler on the skin and help to make my skin look smoother.
