The Valentine's Gift Guide

Who needs an overcrowded restaurant or wilted flowers on Valentine’s Day when you can get something to keep forever.

We’ve rounded up the best in travel-friendly tokens of love for all the inspiration you need to celebrate February 14th. From the Paris-inspired clutch bag to the cashmere Love (with a capital L) jumper, for travel lovers, these are the gifts anyone will want to add to their wanderlust repertoire.

CF Fashion and Beauty Editor Lisa Haynes unveils seven Valentine gifts that say I love you (a lot).

THE CHARM TRINKET

Shun the clichéd heart jewellery and look to shiny things with meaning to show you care. Alighieri’s ‘The Traveller, In Pursuit’ necklace is stacked with eight bold charms to bring wanderlusters luck and direction, like a horseshoe, wishbone, and ship wheel. Plated with 24k gold, the piece is inspired by creative director Rosh Mahtani’s love of travel, with nods to Australia and Colombia. Worn with a simple white blouse or tee she’ll think of you every time she wears it.

THE LOVE SWEATER

Plane outfit, sorted. Cosy up in cashmere on the plane (and express how much she’s digging a new destination) in this Chinti & Parker colour block Love slogan sweater. Featuring blocks of cream, red and pale pink with ‘Love’ spelled across the chest in red letters, it will work for casual plane wear or layering over maxi dresses when temperatures drop at night. We l-o-v-e how it’s styled here with candy-striper shorts.

THE LUST FRAGRANCE

Be warned: this is a seriously sensual scent – but in mini form – making it easy to transport in her vanity kit. This sweet fragrance opens with tender orange blossom, as luscious as a marshmallow, and closes with a sensual amber base for added depth. Plus, the travel case is just as lustworthy as the scent itself.

THE HEART PUMPS

If she loves a comfy plane shoe, meet her future sole mate… Julia Mays limited edition Fiery Love flats come with a hand-painted graphic red heart print we love. With a signature footbed for comfort and leather soles with an anti-slip inlay, they’re made for sprinting to those airport last calls. In versatile ivory snakeskin they will go with just about everything and give tomboy outfits a girly spin.

THE LINGERIE SET

If Dora Larsen isn’t on your lingerie radar yet, it soon will be. The kind of underwear that’s almost too pretty to cover up, we love the Ana line in bold pink tones. In a signature tricolour design, the super-soft mesh style comes in cranberry, flamingo pink and a deep brown that has Valentine’s Day written all over it. Go with the matching knickers in high-waisted style for a classic look that she’ll love.

THE LOVING CANDLES

If she can’t travel without getting candle withdrawals, present her with Bella Freud’s quartet of mini candles. Each branded with ‘Loving’, they’ll fill her unfamiliar space with their seductive scent of tuberose, amber and warming sandalwood to remind her of you. Each hand-poured votive has a burn time of 20+ hours so she can enjoy the romantic ambience at home or away.

THE PARIS CLUTCH

Picture the scene: her opening a surprise pair of Eurostar tickets to Paris tucked away in this designer clutch. A handmade (in France, FYI) tribute to Robert Forrest Wilson's, 'How to Wine And Dine In Paris', this Olympia Le-Tan's novel-inspired clutch box bag is the ultimate Parisian accessory. Crafted in a tome-inspired shape, it can be worn in hand or over her shoulder via the delicate chain-link strap. If Paris isn’t her vibe, check out Olympia Le-Tan’s ‘The New Yorker Love’ clutch instead.
