This Week CF Loves: 08.02.21

This week we’ve a hankering for things that will nourish us: mind, body, and soul.

From poetry to our go-to Indian takeout, and tickets to the opera for just £3… here’s what’s on the agenda this week at CF.

SHOP THIS AERIN, Valentina velvet heart tray

Add a little luxury to your vanity with this Valentina heart-shaped tray from AERIN. Crafted from luxurious moss-green velvet (though available in a selection of colourways) and edged in brass, it’s the perfect soft landing for your most-cherished favourite jewellery pieces – or for keeping personal items on your bureau organised. A wonderful gift idea, we’re smitten with all iterations of the brand’s heart motif – from heart-shaped boxes to frames – so if you want to build up your collection, there’s plenty to inspire.

PRE-ORDER THIS The Hill We Climb by Amanda Gorman

The stirring poem The Hill We Climb by Amanda Gorman is now available to pre-order from Penguin Random House. Performed by Gorman at the inauguration of the 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden, on January 20, 2021, the work presented an inspiring message of hope for America’s future and resonated with people the world over. The special edition release of The Hill We Climb (with a foreword by Oprah Winfrey) will be available this April – ahead of Gorman’s first collection of poetry, which will also be published later this year by Penguin Random House. With her star now firmly in ascent, we’re ordering a copy of this seminal work stat.

EAT THIS Atcha

Atcha – literally meaning good (translated from Hindi) – produces seriously good food we’d order again and again. As we try to reinvent our daily WFH lunch and satiate our cravings for a wholesome evening meal (preferably made by someone else), Atcha is helping us upgrade our mealtimes. Choose from Indian-inspired salads, sourdough sandwiches, wraps, soups, and heat-at-home boxes. Our favourites? The paneer sandwich, no butter chicken and the ‘northern bowl’ (a blend of smoked aubergine, curried cauliflower, and daal), rounded off with an alphonso mango gelato. Dishes are made with homemade ingredients and pack a tasty punch, while remaining light enough to be enjoyed daily. Curry night should not be reserved for one unhealthy night of the week; Atcha provides a real education in how healthy Indian food can be. Available seven days a week across London postcodes via Deliveroo, UberEats, Just Eat or via their website.

STREAM THIS Cendrillon, The Royal Opera House

Set within a storybook, Massenet’s Cendrillon debuted  on The Royal Opera House’s mainstage in July 2011. A romantic interpretation of the much-loved story of Cinderella, director Laurent Pelly placed the story’s fairy tale origins at the forefront of his production, resulting in a memorable, whimsical rendition of the French classic. Originally broadcast in 2012, audiences have a rare chance to enjoy this production anew for just £3. Screening until 21 February 2021, now’s your chance to witness a masterful cast, including Joyce DiDonato as Cendrillon, Alice Coote as her Prince Charming, the comedic Ewa Podlés as Cendrillon’s snobbish stepmother, Madame de la Haltière, and Eglise Gutiérrez as a rambunctious Fairy Godmother. As per Cinderella’s origin story, time is of the essence with this one. Book your tickets now.
