The Beauty Edit

CF Editors Pick Their Favourite Beauty Products This Month

All the hottest March beauty drops we are coveting…

Beauty products drop at a dizzying rate, but there’s no need to feel overwhelmed. At CF we have done the hard work for you: curating an edit of the products to really get excited about. If you are after the lowdown on the easiest blush, most natural of faux tans, and decadent of face masks, you are in the right place.

THE NEW CULT SCENT

Ben Gorman is something of an olfactive genius – all his perfumes tell a story through the complex layering of notes that are instantly hypnotic and Mixed Emotions is no different. A testament to the tumultuous times we are living in, this fragrance is a truly sensory journey. The reassuring notes of black tea and wood are laced with the sweetness of cassis and sharpened by synthetic violet leaf. Mixed Emotions is that very special kind of scent you want to keep sniffing on yourself after your spritz, and others will too…

THE HYDRATING ESSENCE

The Pro-Collagen range from Elemis is one of the British skincare brand’s most celebrated. Packed to the gills with plant and marine extracts it combats the inevitable loss of collagen as we age, restoring plumpness and volume, whilst diminishing fine lines. Now the range expands with a new essence, inspired by the phenomenon that is K-Beauty. Whilst you may be reluctant to add another step to your multi-step regimen, once you know the benefits, it’s a no-brainer. Packing more actives than a toner, and lighter than a serum, it instantly smooths wrinkles, locks in moisture, and prepares the skin barrier to absorb actives from your serums and oils with maximum efficacy.

THE SOFT BLUSH

We love how transformative a quick sweep of blush can be for your complexion – delivering a youthful flush to look healthier and brighter in one simple step. The new Nars Air Matte is a super-whipped cream which blends into a velvety powder upon skin, delivering just a whisper of colour to build as you like. There’s a hue for all skin tones: whether it’s a punchy coral, deep burgundy or peachy pink in the iconic ‘Orgasm’ shade.

THE FACE CREAM

Augustinus Bader’s The Rich Cream is the holy grail of skincare, and now there’s a new improved formula Beauty Editors will be clambering to get their hands on. The OG 2018 formula has received a 2021 facelift: the patented TFC8 technology is still at it’s core for next-level cellular renewal, skin-smoothing, fine-line melting, and bounce-restoring results, all delivered in a new vegan formulation.

THE SUPERCHARGED EYE CARE

Yes eye creams are important but if you really are serious about anti-ageing you need to be using an eye serum too. Specifically, Guerlain’s new Eye R Repair Serum – the latest addition to the Abeille Royale range. Not only does it look super-luxe but it delivers on results. The decadent honey-concentrate serum makes light work of dark circles and puffiness for a wide-eyed look. The formula is slightly pearlised to aid illumination, and the nifty gold nib ensures you use the correct amount for 360 degree contouring of the eye area.

THE BROWS

Any product that claims to deliver "your brows but better" will always pique my interest, such is the case with the new Kevyn Aucoin Feather Brow Marker Gel. Whilst I love a clear browgel, I often have to use it in tandem with another product to pencil in gaps from previously over-zealous plucking, which is why this product is genius. The marker pen creates the appearances of fine hairs, resembling the effects of microblading, whilst the gel creates a feathery, voluminous full-brow illusion. Utter magic.

THE TANNING PRODUCT

In recent years, fake tan formulas have come on in leaps and bounds, rendered in luxurious wearable textures without that tell-tale biscuity whiff. The latest James Read Glow 20 is perfect for fitting in with busy lifestyles whilst also treating skin as it tans – revolutionary! A concoction of Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and aloe vera is a treat for the skin, whilst the colour develops. Simply apply a thin layer of the lightweight serum after cleansing and and let it develop as you wish: 20 minutes gives a light sun-kissed glow, whilst 90 minutes gives the illusion of "I've just spent two weeks basking in the Bahamas".

THE FACE MASK

Fans of a virtuously green smoothie to kickstart their day will go gaga for this latest face mask from ESPA’s new Active Nutrients product line. This creamy clay mask boasts a complexion-loving mix of broccoli seed oil, spirulina, spinach, and kale extracts to truly feed the skin. The new Essential Omegas & Vitamins Complex, which features in all the Active Nutrients range, is a nutrient-rich cocktail to leave skin plumped, replenished, and supple. Ultimately, complexions are rendered healthy and radiant, with that unparalleled ESPA glow.

THE HAIR CARE

We cannot wait to get back to hair salons – the feeling of emerging, goddess-like with the swishiest of blow dries seems like a distant memory. Until then, we’ve all been trying to master the at-home results, with varying success. You may have invested in a coterie of oils, masks, and sprays, but the most basic of tools, the hair brush, makes the ultimate difference. Hair supremo Luke Hersheson acknowledged this, which is why later this week he unveils The Great Hair Brush Collection. It comprises an everyday brush to get to work on those niggling knots and tangles, and a paddle brush to perfect the bounce. With antibacterial properties too you’ll have the shiniest, smoothest hair yet, and find yourself wondering how on earth you coped before…

THE NATURAL LASHES

Whilst we love professional extensions, the bi-monthly appointments are expensive and time-consuming. There is now another option: Lashify, the US brand which has just launched in the UK. The Control Kit is super nifty and a great introduction to the brand: the sleek portable case comprises all you need to curate your individual eye look, with lashes of different weights to mix-and-match and all the tools which make application ridiculously easy. Whether you want lashes that look so natural they could be real, or va-va-voom impact, the results are dramatic.

THE SPF

La Roche Posay is always my SPF of choice: not only does it not clog pores but it works with my sensitive skin and leaves it feeling hydrated, not parched. The new Anthelios Age Correct SPF 50 is great for both ageing and sensitive skin. It protects against full-spectrum UVA and UVB rays, contains hyaluronic acid to keep skin hydrated as well as buzz ingredient, niancinamide, to treat pigmentation (which also works wonders on blackheads and acne). Win win.

THE BODY TINCTURE

After 12 sedentary months, spent mostly perched in front of laptops, you may have noticed a slow increase in cellulite, and that your skin isn't as taught as it used to be. The patent-pending Le Sculpteur from Sisley is its first product shifting focus from face to body, following seven years of research and development. Consider it to be a full-body corset, to sculpt and contour your entire silhouette. This pioneering gel-to-oil formula sinks seamlessly into skin, and when massaged in (legs, arms, hips) twice daily, cellulite dimpling is diminished – skin feels tighter and smoother after 14 days of use.

THE TRAVEL KIT

The past year has given us all pause for thought, including the beauty industry. As we look to returning to the offices or venture further afield over the next couple of months the latest collaboration between Aesop and sustainable fashion designer, RÆBURN, is certain to become a hand-bag stalwart. This portable roll, made from recycled cotton, houses all you need to keep hands clean at all times: Rinse Free gel, Hand Balm, and a new Rinse-Free Hand Mist all in the delectably citrusy, woody Resurrection scent.

THE LIP GLOSS

If you are dipping your toe back into lip colour, the new Sensai Lip Gloss is the perfect skincare/ make-up hybrid. It's a super nourishing lip treatment which plumps and moisturises, with a gentle wash of colour inspired by the first moments of sunlight: think plum, rose, and red.
