World Sleep Day: The Products To Promote Better Sleep

To mark World Sleep Day these are the products to use to promote better sleep.

A good night’s sleep can be frustratingly elusive. Bring contributing factors into the mix – peak levels of anxiety and over-whirring minds – and you can find yourself listlessly laying awake for hours. A national survey commissioned by the Sanctuary Spa revealed that over two thirds of Brits have experienced trouble sleeping since the pandemic began a little over a year ago, with just 32% getting the recommended seven hours per night.

Here are the products CF recommends for a full wind-down ritual to drift off to the land of nod…

THE SUPPLEMENT

Everything Dr Barbara Sturm does is to promote natural beauty, from her skincare line to her supplements. Sleep Food ensures you get the best beauty treatment of all – a good night's sleep. St John’s Wort regulates sleep, valerian supports sleep quality, and lemon balm helps the body to relax into a calmer state. Ultimately you'll sleep quicker, longer, and better.

THE SILK ACCESSORIES

A silk pillowcase and eye mask isn’t simply a decadence, it’s a proven beauty secret too. Silk pillowcases absorb far less products than cotton (so your expensive face cream will stay on your face, as it's meant to). The fabric also reduces friction by 43%, resulting in less hair pulling, breakages, and frizz. The same goes for the eye mask: not only is it pillowy soft and blocks out unwanted light from flickering devices, it will also reduce wrinkles and those annoying sleep creases that can take hours to shift.

THE CBD DROPS

CBD is the wonder ingredient of the moment. Its popularity has soared during the pandemic as many have turned to it for its mind-clearing, anxiety-reducing properties. It can also make for a great pre-bedtime tincture to unwind and relax. Apothem Lab’s Lights Out drops is a blend of CBD with natural botanicals, like camomile and lemon balm which reduced restlessness. The surprising vanilla and caramel taste is a welcome addition too; a few drops under the tongue pre-bed will soon become a second-nature ritual.

THE FULL PACKAGE

MZ Skin has taken all the hard work out of deciding which skincare items to combine for a hard-working evening skincare regime, thanks to their Night-Time Pamper Ritual. The kit will have your skin cleansed, prepped, and primed for bed in three nurturing steps. In collaboration with LA-based label Misa, they've also included an elegant satin robe, so you’ll look swish as you drift around your home getting ready for bed.

THE CANDLE

Luxe + Hardy's modus operandi is investing in rest, with a focus on manifesting the perfect night's sleep. Alongside the most sumptuous of loungewear, that we'd happily wear all day every day, their beauty offering makes for a blissful night in. The sleepy candle is laced with soothing notes of lavender, rose geranium, and grounding frankincense, and makes a wonderful accompaniment to some gentle pre-sleep meditation.

THE BATH SALTS

I’m partial to a comforting soak after a long day, especially when accompanied by shedloads of these aromatic bath salts which profess to take the edge off of emotional times. The mix of epsom and himalayan salts sooth tired limbs, whilst a concoction of chia seed oil, valerian root, and passion flower still the mind. To top it all off is that spa-like scent: thanks to frankincense, myrrh, and sandalwood which instantly fills the room.

THE PILLOW SPRAY

The original and the best, This Works’ The Pillow Spray is a stalwart of many a bedside table. I, for one, have this within arm’s reach every night, even when away from home, ritualistically spritzing my sheets liberally before my head hits the pillow. Combining a signature blend of lavender, camomile, and vetivert, it stills the mind so you can drift off peacefully, enveloped in a bubble of calm.

THE MOISTURISER

All of ESPA’s products are designed to treat both the body and the mind through a combination of signature aromatherapy oils alongside natural plant and marine extracts. The richly viscous cream is part of the Restful range designed to sooth: it leaves skins cocooned in a nourishing formula, whilst a heady aroma of eucalyptus, sage, and earthy pine work together to deliver a calming aura.

THE HERBAL REMEDY

If you want to upgrade your pre-bedtime drink, stir in a little of Glow Bar’s Reishi. Joining their collection of powdered elixirs, Reishi is part of the supershroom family. Used in traditional Eastern medicine for centuries, it works to give your immune system a major boost and reduces fatigue. With stress-diminishing and mood-boosting qualities, a small quantity per night can improve your sleep cycle too.

THE PYJAMAS

Desmond & Dempsey began in 2014, inspiring customers to reclaim the joy of lazy Sundays with their eye-catching array of pyjamas. There's no better feeling than putting on a fresh pair of pyjamas after a relaxing soak and these, spun from the softest of cotton, mean you will sleep seamlessly all through the night without getting too hot or too cold. Bliss!
