This Week CF Loves

This Week CF Loves: 22.03.2021

This week we’re setting off on a simulative whistle-stop tour to some of our favourite spots.

We’re touching down in New York to chat new books and ‘owning it’ with Diane von Furstenberg, feasting on Italian handmade delights, and booking our summertime stay at one of our most-loved Spanish outposts.

Here’s what’s hot on CF this week…

WEAR THIS Loretta Caponi X Net-A-Porter

Loretta Caponi founded her eponymous label in Florence in 1967. Today, its signature hand-embroidered clothing and linens are considered suitcase staples by sophisticated globetrotters. Renowned for its luxurious lingerie and beachwear, Loretta Caponi designs are handcrafted with precision – think intricate ‘catenella’-stitched embroidery and delicate lace trims. Done in crisp cotton poplin, we’re smitten with this LC ‘Donatella’ blouse, which has an undeniable Victorian feel. Intricate ruffles and a high neckline are countered with a punchy striped pattern in tonal-purple hues – the perfect ensemble for a jaunt on Île de Ré. Maximise your summertime look with the matching shorts – the scalloped hem is oh-so sweet.

BOOK THIS Menorca Experimental

For Menorca at its most mellow, check in to Menorca Experimental. With the Balearic government announcing their de-escalation plan from 2 March, hotels are likely to reopen early May – and we’re hovering over the ‘book now’ button in anticipation of this remote exclusive retreat’s return. A 19th-century finca, plotted on 30 hectares of land, Menorca Experimental is designed in the spirit of an artist’s vacation cottage, replete with artisanal touches, rustic features, and art-deco accents. Pull yourself away from one of the hotel’s 43 rooms and nine villas (complete with private dipping pools) to partake in unique guest experiences such as pottery and painting, horse riding or snorkelling in Menorca’s deep-sea caves. On lazier days, tuck into the new poolside tapas restaurant and bar, where the focus is on local produce from the house’s own garden.

READ THIS Own It, PHAIDON

“The more I think about it, the more I think owning it is the key for everything, the secret to life! It applies to everything and everyone. It is about assuming responsibility, accepting reality, and dealing with the truth.” – Diane von Furstenberg, Own It.

In her latest book, Own It: The Secret to Life, fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg shares her words of wisdom with the masses. An empowering manifesto for personal growth, Own It is a compact blueprint to life. Comprising of 268 entries, ranging in subject from packing to zen, we’re particularly fond of its easy-to-navigate A-Z format, which makes it book we’re likely to return to again and again. An inspiriting and fresh perspective from “a trailblazing business leader and creative genius”.

EAT THIS La Tua Pasta's Easter Feast

Transforming our homes into authentic trattorias this Easter, we’re placing our orders with La Tua Pasta – the luxury fresh-pasta supplier to Claridge’s, The Dorchester et al. Creating a limited-edition Easter feast that nods to British traditions (with a side of Italian flair), your Sunday lunch (suitable for two/ four people) will be all finesse and no fuss thanks to pasta gods, La Tua Pasta. Nibble on Tempus salami while the “at home” focaccia bakes in the oven, then whip up tender, hand-folded lamb and mint tortelloni (they cook in just five minutes) plated up for your party with an indulgent sage butter sauce. End your Italian Easter feast on a (sugar) high with a Colomba – a dove shaped, panettone-style cake that’s made by hand using Sicilian almonds, raisins, and candied fruit. Order by 4PM on 28th March for delivery in time for Easter weekend.

SHOP THIS Limited-Edition Art Blankets, JW Anderson

Walk, don’t run. JW Anderson has launched a range of limited-edition blankets – the product of a collaboration with two outstanding artists: Kenyan-born British potter and artist, Dame Magdalene Odundo DBE and New York-born ceramicist and performance artist, Shawanda Corbett. The lowdown on the limited drop is thus: six original works of flat art (three from each artist) have been translated into a series of limited-edition blankets, each individually numbered, with both woven and hand-knit versions available for purchase. The more affordable options include a limited run of 60 woven blankets (made of 90% wool and 10% cashmere) priced at £1,290 per work – Dame Magdalene Odundo DBE’s Seated Figure and Shawanda Corbett’s Chair with plastic cover, which is available in colourways. The hand knit iterations are at a higher price point – made of 100% Merino wool,  just 10 of each work available. Shawanda Corbett’s Playing outside in school clothes and You look just like your daddy, as well as Dame Magdalene Odundo DBE’s Cat Walk and Twist, are all priced at £4,650 a piece. Pre-order placed, we’re ready to be cloaked in Corbett.
