The Beauty Edit

CF Editors Pick Their Favourite Beauty Products This Month

Beauty products drop at a dizzying rate, but there’s no need to feel overwhelmed. At CF we have done the hard work for you: curating an edit of the products dropping in April to really get excited about.

If you are after the lowdown on the new spring scent, the tools to sculpt and de-puff, or even the hangover quick-fix to note (now pubs have reopened), you are in the right place. These are all the hottest April beauty drops we are coveting…

THE MAKE-UP ARTIST APPROVED KIT

Esteemed make-up artist Pati Dubroff is renowned for turning out luminous, glowing skin and natural red-carpet looks. She has worked her magic on everyone from Margot Robbie to Priyanka Chopra and now she’s set to freshen up your spring make-up bag with an exclusive collaboration with Beauty Pie. The Make-Up Essentials Kit is a curated edit of eight products Pati religiously reaches for for every face she works with. From highlighter and eyeliner, to blush and mascara, these are the foundations needed to create a youthful, polished look.

THE FACE TOOLS

It’s time to wake up with Quantum Botanika, the brainchild of facialist extraordinaire Natalyia Robinson. Her new Cryo Depuffer Spoons are the hard-working beauty tools to place at the top of your shopping list. Remove from the fridge (or the freezer if you are feeling particularly hardcore) following your hot morning shower to enjoy a soothing, yet deeply invigorating facial massage. Use daily before applying your skincare for the day to awaken tired eyes and revive puffy skin. Follow the Instagram tutorial for a step-by-step guide to achieving a sculpted visage; you can thank us later.

THE LIP PRODUCT

A tinted lip gloss is the perfect way to deliver a delicate pop of colour if you aren’t quite ready for the full-on impact of a heavy duty lipstick. This Votary gloss is packed to the gills with nourishing ingredients: squalene, raspberry seed oil, passion flower oil, baobab, and jojoba, for a perfectly plumped pout. Hydrating with a flattering pink sheen, this will help you rediscover your mojo for spring.

THE HAIR PERFUME

KILIAN PARIS' fragrances are weapons of mass seduction and now there's another way to wear the iconic Good Girl Gone Bad fragrance, loved for its hypnotic floral blend of orange blossom, tuberose, and osmanthus. Designed to layer in conjunction with the original eau de parfum, this hair mist will help your scent last even longer. The lightweight spritz has also been formulated to nourish hair and protect against UV damage.

THE BODY SCRUB

Getting ready to bare your legs after a winter in hibernation? This efficacious scrub couldn’t be easier to use. The gel formula transforms into an exfoliating oil when massaged into skin, and turns into a milk upon contact with water for easy rinsing and no gritty residue. It smooths, firms, and tones skin to reduce those irritating bumps, whilst the green coffee is fantastic for lymphatic drainage. It also smells rather lovely – woody and aromatic – which is a bonus.

THE FACE MIST

A face mist may well be the step your skincare regime is missing to deliver the levels of moisture we are forever on the quest to achieve. The latest spritz from By Sarah London should be within hands reach at all times. It hydrates thirsty skin, soothes inflammation, and boosts radiance. It can even be used to revitalize make-up mid-afternoon for a pre-dinner refresh.

THE LIQUID LINER

If there’s one thing I have come to expect from Byredo’s make-up line is to expect the unexpected. Knowing Byredo, I knew the new Practical Brown Eyeliner was never going to be solely about practicalities. With razor-sharp precision, it delivers a sleek flick with a mother of pearl shimmery finish – the perfect building block for a smokey eye. Long-lasting and transfer-proof it offers 12 hours of staying power: handy for the breakfast, lunch, and dinner marathon you have booked in now restaurants are open.

THE CHIC SANITISER

Jo Loves has somehow made the unsexiest of beauty products, hand sanitiser, well, rather sexy. Putting a luxe edge on the handbag stalwart, this nifty tube has two separate dispensers: one stores the sanitiser (70% alcohol), the other houses a silky moisturiser to combat the drying effects of the incessant hand-washing we've all become so accustomed to. The delicious mood-boosting scent – citrusy, with a hint of green vetiver – will have you whipping this out at every opportunity.

THE HANGOVER CURE

One silver lining of barely leaving the house for a year has been the absence of hangovers. After one year of enforced abstainance, you can be certain the morning after will be far worse than you remembered, so stash a stack of these nifty patches by your nightstand and apply one after you remove your make-up before your head hits the pillow. With 15mg organic hemp CBD isolate to reduce inflammation and stomach cramps, green tea, and a coterie of essential vitamins to tackle headaches and reintroduce nutrients, your hangover will go from a 10 to about a three like that – genius!

THE HAIR MASK

You may have fought tooth and nail to get a coveted appointment with your favourite hairdresser but now you can make your Olaplex in-salon treatment last longer with the first Olaplex at-home hair mask. This hard-working mask gets to work in 10 minutes to restore body, smooth and shine hair, as well as target damage and deeply nourish.

THE MAKE-UP FRIENDLY SPF

Yes we all know we should be wearing SPF daily, but some formulas go chalky or flaky under foundation, meaning many of us forgo it in lieu of products that work with our make-up. That's why we got really excited for the UK launch of Ultra Violette, an Australian brand of suncare dubbed as 'Skinscreen' – a product which takes a skincare-first approach, meaning it will work with your other products. We are particuarly taken by the Supreme Screen Hydrating Facial Skinscreen SPF 50+ which has been formulated to work as a sunscreen, moisturiser, and primer all-in-one. It sinks into the skin like a dream, and makes the perfect base for the day ahead.

THE FRAGRANCE

Sisley's newly launched fragrance, Izia La Nuit, is the French beauty house's first perfume launch in four years – and it's well worth the wait. The sculptural black laquered bottle beguiles you in an instant, and the scent is rather enchanting too – an ode to the rose in CEO Isabelle D'Ornano's garden that blooms just once a year. With an effervescent top note of blackcurrent and mandarin, a floral heart of freesia and rose which dries down to the warmth of patchouli and vanilla, this is the perfect sensual scent for after dark.
