This Week CF Loves

This Week CF Loves: 19.04.2021

This week, we’ve a spring in our step. Maybe it’s the sunshine, maybe it’s our pasta-filled bellies (following a weekend of al-fresco dining)… whatever it is we’re feeling gleeful as can be.

As a result, our listings are a bit of a pick ‘n’ mix – a little of what you fancy. For us that means Dr Sturm facials, scalloped trays, and (sometime soon) hotels stays in Washington DC.

For this week’s hotlist in full, scroll on…

SHOP THIS Scalloped Tray, Addison Ross

We’ve taken a shining to this high-gloss scalloped tray from Addison Ross. Available in three sizes – small, medium, and large – it’s the perfect accompaniment to your home or office space. Rectangular in shape with scalloped top edges, then lacquered for a high-shine finish, shoppers can choose from a variety of bold colourways, including sunshine yellow, burnt orange, and nautical navy. Stackable or standalone, they’re a versatile addition to any home. Suitable for all manner of uses – carry drinks and canapés out to the patio on sunnier days, or alternatively, sport yours as a chic sitting room caddy – perfect for displaying flowers, stowing remote controls, and other coffee table items.

BOOK THIS Lyle Washington DC

Housed in an imposing 1940s Art-Deco building, Lyle Washington DC is the latest in a stream of hip new hotels forming roots in the US capital. From the people behind Sea Containers London, Pulitzer Amsterdam, and Riggs Washington DC, you can expect the same levels of style and luxury from Lyle Washington DC. Plotted in the US capital’s vibrant Dupont Circle neighbourhood, guestrooms at Lyle’s feel inviting and residential, replete with calming neutral tones and natural materials such as Burl wood Art-Deco headboards, rattan seating, and Berber carpets. Ideal for longer stays too, 56 of the 196 guestrooms feature kitchenettes. Those who prefer to dine out, the hotel’s neighbourhood restaurant and bar, Lyle’s serves a menu of seasonal, contemporary American fare from Nicholas Sharpe (who previously worked at Michelin-starred Fiamma in New York City).

DISCOVER THIS Dr Barbara Sturm, Mayfair

With a focus on healthy skin, Dr Barbara Sturm’s new London boutique should be your first port of call where post-lockdown beauty treatments are concerned. The cult beauty brand, perhaps best known for its pioneering ‘vampire facial’ and beloved by celebrity clients from Kim Kardashian to Victoria Beckham, has taken up shop on Mayfair’s Mount Street. The dedicated boutique and spa will offer Dr Sturm’s signature facials alongside a new range of treatment options exclusive to the London flagship. On entry, be instantly wooed by the centrepiece of the store – the ‘Discovery Table’ (it’s made from a gargantuan slab of Italian green onyx and houses a mass of Dr Sturm’s tinctures). It’s a skin nerd’s nirvana.

WATCH THIS Promising Young Woman

UK audiences – the wait is over. Emerald Fennell’s dark comedy/revenge thriller Promising Young Woman is now available to view via Sky Cinema and NOW TV. Fennell’s directorial debut stars Carey Mulligan as Cassie, a former medical student who drops out of medical school following the rape of her best friend Nina. The story centres on Cassie (Nina is never seen in the film) who, by day works at a coffee shop and by night, pretends to be drunk at dimly lit bars, with the view to go home with eager men – played by the likes of Adam Brody, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Sam Richardson – only to intimidate and threaten them. Expect the unexpected as this charged story reaches its climax.

ORDER THIS FARE, variety of boxes available

FARE is a new UK-based business offering food boxes which champion the best of British produce (note: they’re scrumptious). While many have made beelines for their nearest terrace dining option, we’re still keen on home cooking (or at the very least home assemblage). Choose from six boxes, including Breakfast FARE, Deli FARE and Fisherman’s FARE, priced from £35. They’re a godsend for weekend gatherings with family and al-fresco dining in the park post work (when the thought of cobbling a feast together following umpteen Zooms is just too much to take). These moreish mealboxes are available for nationwide delivery – delivery times estimated at 3-5 days.
