This Week CF Loves: 03.05.2021

The chicest straw hat, an Ibizan beachside must-visit, plus the Umbrian getaway we’ve been dreaming of.

This week we’ve our sights set on our suitcases, from packing essentials to covetable accommodations. For this week’s hotlist in full, scroll on…

SHOP THIS LOLA Hats, Espartina Ribbon Sun Hat

Handmade in New York, the Holland-born and Brooklyn-based, Lola Ehrlich of Lola Hats creates bright and bold designs that demand attention. This one – complete with tall crown and super-wide brim – is crafted from handwoven natural raffia and has all the makings of a serious statement sun hat. Just the thing you need for instant sun protection wherever you go, the cobalt blue grosgrain ribbon lacing – which can be tied under the chin – gives the standard classic straw hat a sartorial bite.

VISIT THIS Beachouse Ibiza

Take note of this beachside hangout for that (hopeful) summer escape to the Balearics. Earlybirds should start their day with one of Beachouse Ibiza’s daily beach yoga sessions, followed by a wholesome breakfast served at their open-air restaurant. By contrast, those who like to rise a little later can drop towel on the palm-lined Playa d’en Bossa sometime after noon and make BI their spot of choice until end of play. Whether here for lunch or dinner, an A-grade al-fresco dining experience is assured. We suggest ordering the zucchini burrata and fresh mint alongside the pluma ibérica spring onion and chimichurri sauce to get you started.

FLY WITH THIS Anya Hindmarch, In-Flight Case

The perfect travel accessory, Anya Hindmarch’s clear In-Flight Case is ideal for stashing all of your travel essentials – eyedrops, sheet masks, perfume etc. With a clear exterior to help you find what you’re looking for, the case has two zipped compartments – labelled for TAKE OFF and TOUCH DOWN – for ease of access. Finished with a cherry-red patent trim, signature tassel zip fastenings, this sleek pouch negates the need for an airport zip-lock and signals to fellow travellers that you are indeed a (fabulous) frequent flyer.

BOOK THIS Hotel Castello di Reschio, Umbria

CF readers turn your diary page to 13 May 2021, when Hotel Castello di Reschio is set (finally) to open its doors. Well worth the wait, the 36-room hotel, plotted on the 3,700-acre Reschio Estate in the heart of the Umbrian hills, will feature impeccable interiors featuring fine Italian linens, handcrafted furnishings, stone-carved fireplaces, and antique artworks. Equally delectable is the food and beverage offering, which champions a farm-to-fork ethos; the majority of produce comes from the estate’s own organic kitchen garden, vineyards, and beehives. Another draw for guests is The Bathhouse, an ethereal spa hidden within the Castello’s age-old vaulted wine cellar. Inspired by ancient Roman baths, it features a salt-water plunge pool, hammam, sauna, and treatment rooms. Bliss.

CONSIDER THIS The New Craftsmen Award

Together with Cockpit Arts, The New Craftsmen have launched an award to foster greater ethnic diversity in the craft world. Inviting creative, early-career makers to take up the opportunity of a three-year programme that includes a funded studio space in London, financial and practical support, as well as guidance and mentoring, applicants will be assessed on their craft skills, the ambition of their creative work, the potential and viability of their business plan and the extent to which the maker believes that they will benefit from the opportunity. For full details on how to apply visit the Cockpit Arts website. Applications are open until 28th May 2021.
