Out Is The New In: Spruce Up Your Outdoor Space

It’s time to spruce up your outdoor space in time for summer…

Outdoors is very much the new in, if the current restrictions are anything to go by. Whether you have a balcony, small patio, or large sprawling garden (you lucky, lucky thing) choosing the right furniture and accessories can transform your space.

Here’s our CF edit to shop now.

THE PLANTS

We may not be travelling anywhere far-flung for now, but picking exotic plants can bring the look and aroma of sunnier climes to our doorsteps. Close your eyes and the notes of these citrus plants can (almost) transport you to the Amalfi Coast. Whilst we’ve been injecting a healthy dose of colour into our homes, apply the same discipline outdoors, with these cheery Matilda Goad planters.

THE BISTRO SET

We love this charming bistro table and chairs from Maison Du Monde. Super space efficient, the set fits comfortably on even the most compact of balconies or courtyards, and can be easily folded away when not in use. Cheap and cheerful, it's also extremely durable, and the pretty mint hue will add a welcome splash of colour to your outdoor setup. The set is also available in a sunny yellow, warm turquoise, and muted neutrals, so works whatever your palette.

THE CORNER SEAT

This large corner seat is giving us serious beach club feels, and works perfectly for larger patios. There's ample room for hosting, and plenty of space for drinks and canapés, thanks to the coffee table. It's also the perfect place to kick back and relax with a glass of wine after a long work day. Bliss! Style note: rattan is very on-trend right now, and a pragmatic weather-resistant choice for inevitable summer showers.

THE FIRE PIT

Last year it was all about the hot tub, this year the fire pit is the must-have garden accessory. Snap one up now, as they are going fast! This classic black iteration from made.com is sleek and minimalist. Perfect for providing some heat when the temperatures drop come evening, weather-proofing your festivities is always a wise choice  when hosting in the UK.

THE SOFT LIGHTING

Alongside a festoon of pretty string lights, candles always add a romantic feel as dusk falls. Arrange a selection of these Ralph Lauren Home hurricane vases in various sizes. Top Tip: stock up on citronella candles to keep pesky mosquitos at bay.

THE STATEMENT CHAIR

Ceraudo’s new Bistro collection of colourful cane and woven chairs in red, green, blue, and lavender, perfectly capture our excitement at being able to entertain at home. Stick to one colour, or opt for mix-and-match hues to spark joy. They would also be great indoors, whether to add a pop of colour to hallways, or as a desk chair.

THE PARASOLE

Bring the beach to your garden with the seaside-inspired stripes of this parasole from Business & Pleasure. It's the chic way to keep guests cool and sunburn-free.

THE SUN LOUNGER

Make use of your sun trap with this sun lounger from Raj Tent Club. Made from cane, and with white cushion covers, it’s minimalist yet sleek; however, maximalist floral prints are also available. This corresponding rattan coffee table is the optimal place to pop a cool glass of Aperol as you recline. Butler not included – sorry about that.

THE OUTDOOR RUG

Just as a rug is an instant interiors enlivener, this styling trick works for outdoors too and serves as a quick fix to pep up an otherwise neutral patio. Made from polyester, this vibrant, striped rug is made for outdoor use, and available in three sizes to cater to your space.
