What To Wear: Vacation Vibes

It’s official: vacations are go again – and our neglected suitcases have never been happier.

Now’s not the time to go low-key with your holiday looks. Embrace your long-awaited return to vacations with resortwear statement makers that are made for parading around the beach/pool/hotel.

From Mara Hoffman’s tropical-inspired co-ords to Zimmermann’s cut-out swimsuit, these high summer pieces should evoke pure joy.

Here’s what to wear for those ultimate ‘hello, vacation vibes’ moments.

THE BEACH CO-ORD

Nothing says "I’m so ready for a beach vacation" like a summer co-ord, and Mara Hoffman’s matchy-matchy set epitomises the holiday mood. In a rich, earthy red with a playful print, we love the Rilynn strapless top and Tulay maxi skirt. Wear them together for major vacation vibes, or team the maxi with a white tee or knotted shirt for a more casual take.

THE MAXIMALIST SUN HAT

If you’re into muted beach ensembles, turn up the volume via your accessories. A wide brim sun hat might take up a lot of space in your luggage, but the payoff is worth it when you’re feeling super glamorous on your sunlounger. Faithfull The Brand's bucket hat is the ultimate outfit brightener with its zesty tones. The big brim also gives you bonus built-in protection to shield your face from the sun. Wear it with muted tones to make the print pop, or pair with the matching sarong for a maximalist vibe.

THE SHELL MINI

If you’re about to cure your ocean withdrawals by jetting off, pack a vacation-ready mini that you can dress up or down. Australian label, ALÉMAIS' Atlantis mini dress features a statement shell print inspired by luxe beaches. In breezy, lightweight linen with tiered mini A-line skirt, it will keep you cool even in super-balmy climates. We love the voluminous silhouette, with exaggerated sleeves, for an effortlessly flirtatious look. Style it with simple sandals for daytime, and elevate your look with strappy wedges for sundowner cocktails.

THE CUT-OUT SWIMSUIT

Poolside cocktails (oh how we’ve missed you) are worthy of a wowing one-piece. We think Zimmermann’s retro-inspired, floral-print swimsuit is something to write home about. With removable straps, and flattering cut-out details, it’s almost too good for the beach. Double it up as a vacation bodysuit and throw on a pair of neutral shorts so you can wear it après-pool.

THE VACAY EARRINGS

Yes please, and thank you, to Bibi Marini's iconic bead and crochet earrings – hand-crafted by Colombian female artisans. Available in a veritable array of colours, we love the pairing of black with a smattering of rainbow beads that will dangle joyfully from your lobes. These earrings may look flamboyantly large, but are suprisingly lightweight, making them the perfect holiday piece to throw on to elevate your look.

THE BASKET BAG

The straw bag is the accessory du jour, and an investment piece you'll cherish summer-after-summer. If you want a beach bag with personality, check out Loewe Paula’s Ibiza arm candy. Evocative of the island’s bohemian mood, this raffia basket bag is inspired by the iconic boutique Paula’s, set in the heart of Ibiza’s Old Town. Crafted with both long and top handles for versatility, and appliquéd with the brand’s logo, it’s a designer tote that doesn’t look too try-hard for the beach.

THE BOLD MAXI

Every suitcase needs a bold maxi dress to throw on for sundowners, and this Carolina Herrera colour-block vision serves as Instagram cat-nip. In organza, it’s cool but still makes a statement, thanks to its fluid silhouette – just add a strong sea breeze for maximum impact. With an asymmetric hem, keep your footwear simple, or better still, just go barefoot.
