BOOK THIS Kalesma Mykonos

Who’s craving Cycladic cuisine? Or just the Cyclades full stop? We’re headed for the new boutique hotel Kalesma Mykonos – which opened in May 2021 – at the soonest opportunity. Guests of the hotel can call the whitewashed collection of chic houses – designed to resemble a charming Mykonian village – ‘home’, while day trippers venturing to Ornos Bay can make fine-dining PERE UBU restaurant their base. Created by the Greek owners of acclaimed Athens restaurants, Pere, UBU, and Sea Spice, their latest restaurant serves a range of fresh and seasonal dishes that combine authentic flavours of Mediterranean cuisine with the vibrant and unique tastes of Mykonos – think delicious small plates of lip-smacking roasted octopus and scrumptious mezze platters.

READ THIS Little Book of Louis Vuitton

One to pre-order for your fashion-obsessed friend – or make space for on your own bookshelf –, Little Book of Louis Vuitton (released 5 August 2021) is a story of transformation, from luggage company to high-fashion label. Spanning many epochs, spotlighting the Jazz Age, the Swinging Sixties, and beyond, we’re particularly keen to read Fashion Journalist, Karen Homer’s reflections on the 1980s – a time which saw the global expansion of Louis Vuitton and brought about the creation of the powerful fashion conglomerate LVMH. Page turning stuff indeed.

SHOP THIS Ritmo Collection, Charo Ruiz

Partnering with young artist Sebastian Marc Graham to create an original watercolour motif full of bright shapes on romantic silhouettes, Charo Ruiz’s Ritmo collection is a summer must-shop. A punchy print will leave you in good stead for your next Ibizan getaway – which is why we’re loading up our suitcases with multiple pieces from this collection. The Paloma mini dress is a personal favourite – boasting lantern sleeves, a nipped waist, and flattering skater skirt; what’s not to love?

TRY THIS Eve Lom, Radiance Face Mist

Three words: refreshing skincare mist. Eve Lom’s multi-tasking Radiance Face Mist is a summertime lifesaver – and one we’ll be keeping in our handbags all season long. Instantly hydrating, it helps to protect against environmental aggressors and improves elasticity. To use, simply spritz on after cleansing or over makeup to feel instantly revitalised. Suitable for all skin types, the mist offers wearers a dewy glow and helps the skin regulate its moisture levels (read: keeps water retention in check) more effectively, ensuring it stays balanced and refreshed, even as humidity levels change. It’s a godsend in this warm weather. Its gentle scent of Damascene roses and wild indigo extract offer an added lift to proceedings.

BOOK THIS VELA Restaurant Toronto

VELA – Toronto’s latest F&B launch – is a hive of activity, with nine different experiences for visitors to discover, including a champagne bar, cocktail counter, chef counter, and a large banquette area, as well as a live music venue. Created by award-winning architecture studio PARTISANS, their stop-you-in-your-tracks design will have you ogling over the restaurant’s many corners – pausing to take in the winding lighting installation (which was inspired by a constellation of stars) which spans across the undulating ceiling and walls. Suffice to say, there’s a lot to take in design-wise at VELA. Still, there’s a lot to take in when it comes to the food too.  Your eyes will (once again) wonder every which way to take in all menu options. There’s melt-in-your-mouth wagyu beef, scrumptious artichoke cakes, and a canestrini noodle pomodoro for mains, with dessert ranging from a delectable buttercream, lime curd, and toasted coconut cake, to an utterly yum salted caramel brownie stack served with a side scoop of cocoa sorbet.
