The CF Checklist: August

It’s time to plan your sartorial calendar, aided by your monthly dose of The CF Checklist.

August signals the last hurrah of summer, and it’s also a good time to snap up key autumn pieces before anyone else. Whether you are still after the perfect summer sandal to make the most of balmier days, or are ready to usher in chic jackets and statement denim, this is what’s on the CF Fashion Editor’s radar this month.

THE PERFECT SUMMER SANDAL

If, like me, you've spent all summer deliberating your sandal investment, I've found the perfect shoes for you. This pair from Dune London are super versatile, no matter what your calendar has in store. The square open-toe is sleek and modern, whilst the block-heel is remarkably comfortable for running around town. The brown croc leather looks suitably luxe, whilst the price tag is pleasingly purse-friendly.

THE INFLUENCER-APPROVED BAG

Berlin-based accessories brand Agneel may be new on the scene, but its bags have already been spotted on the arms of influencers Sophia Roe, Darja Barannik, and Jeanette Madsen. The Agnes is the hero bag: available in a myriad of understated hues, and with a modern half-moon silhouette, it's the very definition of sleek minimalism.

THE SHIRT

French heritage shirtmakers, Charvet, have brought their mastery to MATCHESFASHION with an exclusive capsule collection. We love this delicate blue linen shirt that's sharpened with elegant accents – a point collar and mother-of-pearl buttons. The relaxed fit means it works as perfectly for the return to the office, as it does for your holiday wardrobe.

THE DRESS

We are huge fans of Hesper Fox's sumptuous silk sleepwear, and even bigger fans of its latest Ready-To-Wear collection, Botanica '75. Comprising dresses in a monochromatic palette – inspired by the blooms of the British countryside – these pieces are all we want to wear for the last glimpses of summer.

THE HOT JEWELLER

Boochier is our latest fine jewellery addiction. Founded by Hong Kong designer, Melinda Zerman, in 2019, designs are playful and joyous, combining diamonds, precious stones, and enamel. The 90s-inspired Fruit Hoops collection will sate the sweetest of teeth. I'll be stacking up these rings in every saturated colour.

THE STATEMENT DENIM

We're all championing the straight denim silhouette: fitting high on the waist and skimming the legs, for a thigh-slimming illusion. This pair from AGOLDE are particularly lovely if you want your jeans to make more of a statement. The frilled waist elevates a classic shape – pair with a fitted white vest for maximum impact.

THE SUMMER SLEEPWEAR

Don't wait for the next heatwave to hit before you frantically search for the perfect summer sleepwear. Bamford has joined forces with Fashion Director Martha Ward on a capsule of 100% cotton nightdresses and pyjamas. The pieces look so chic you'll want to wear them beyond your bedroom. It's embroidery and scalloping galore, with a serious nod to the prairie trend.

THE EARRINGS

Delight your earlobes with the new Halycon Collection from Deborah Blyth. Staying true to the jeweller's MO, shapes are organic and unique, using recycled silver and brass. These earrings present a riot of colour: nestled within the golden charms are an irregular pattern of gemstones, from blue sapphires and emeralds to tsavorites and amethysts.

THE CHIC JACKET

I can't be the only one already getting excited for autumn dressing. Whilst I'm scrolling for high summer steals, I'm also tentatively browsing the flurry of new season pieces dropping. This green tweed jacket from Mango is an incredibly chic way to add a pop of colour to your outfit. I'll be pairing my jacket buttoned-up with my favourite denim for a touch of Parisian insouciance.
