'Til The Last Drop #12

Welcome to ‘Til The Last Drop: a bi-monthly column in which I, CF Beauty Editor, Olivia Bennett, share my review of a favourite cult product that I (truly) use to the last drop. This week’s featured product is Benefit’s Gimme Brow.

I’m messaged by friends and family, at all hours of the day, with recommendation requests for everything from “the budget gel moisturiser that works with combination skin” to “the hard-hitting eye cream that will make Botox a last resort”, and queries on “whether X, Y, and Z from the current trending brand are REALLY worth the hype”.

Such incessant inquiries sparked this column, where I’ll cover best-selling names alongside under-the-radar brands to note. You’ll hear about blow-the-budget products that live up to their hefty price tag and the purse-friendly steals which I unashamedly turn to time and again.

No need to text me, I’ll be sharing all my intel with you right here every other week. Tune in.

THE BROW GEL

Benefit truly is the go-to brand for brow-preening products. From pencils and powders to pomades, there’s a formula to suit your preference, whether you want to go smooth and glossy, or opt for Instagram-worthy fluffy brows. If you aren’t quite ready to dabble in brow lamination, and don't want the permanence of microblading, Benefit's Gimme Brow gel is my go-to product, creating definition and volume in an instant. The overall effect is: your brows, but better. They'll look natural without being too ‘done'. The tiny microfibres stick to hairs to fill in any gaps from over-plucking, and the small tapered brush makes sweeping on the gel super easy. It's wondrously buildable, and the long-lasting formula won’t budge either. Available in eight universal shades, I opt for a shade darker than my naturally light brows for added oomph.
