The CF Checklist: September

It’s time to plan your sartorial calendar, aided by your monthly dose of The CF Checklist.

Whilst we cling on to hope of an Indian summer, September offers the best in autumn dressing. From the must-have Breton knit, to the smartest back to work tote, this is what’s on the CF Fashion Editor’s radar this month.

THE NEW GYM WEAR

If the back-to-school feeling has inspired you to kickstart your workout routine, we have just the motivation for you. Pull yourself out of a fitness rut by adding a new sporty co-ord to your kit bag – preferably from Reformation’s Ref Active line. The Porcelain print is the perfect extension of the brand's signature floral dresses, whilst the Cheetah print will put a spring in your step. Made from performance-enhancing EcoMove fabric, you will feel perfectly supported, sculpted, and cinched, whether a sweaty HIIT class or slower Pilates session is on the menu.

THE WORK TOTE

Choosing what to wear for your return to the office is proving quite the wardrobe conundrum. But rest assured, nothing will pull your look together quite like a shiny new bag. Yuzefi has elevated the humble tote, manipulating the softestt buttery leather into an unexpected trapeze shape, finished with knotted ties. We love the palette-cleansing cream hue, which looks suitably expensive and will lift a black ensemble. There's plenty of space inside for your essentials, plus your laptop. Business meetings never looked so smart.

THE MBD

If you have yet to hear of Bazilika, it's time to get acquainted. The emerging brand has become a fast favourite for fashion insiders and supermodels too, thanks to its offering of luxe loungewear, relaxed tailoring, and a crisp palette of cream, butterscotch, and black. This knitted midi dress is wonderfully alluring: with a sculpting silhouette and chain details adorning the scoop back, it’s subtly sexy.

THE LINGERIE

We all know the fundamentals of any wardrobe begin with excellent lingerie – the kind that scoops, cinches, and smooths – so your favourite outfits sit perfectly atop. We're currently loving Agent Provocateur’s playful new campaign shot by Venetia Scott, celebrating femininity and the brand’s eccentric British heritage. The AW21 collection comprises traditional classics with a twist: expect tactile combinations of silk and lace, taking you from day to night.

THE TRANSEASONAL JACKET

Everyone knows the best jackets get snapped up in September, so act fast! We love KASSL Editions' contemporary take on a classic trench. The coated canvas gives a shimmering finish, upgrading the neutral sand hue. The relaxed fit, oversized sleeves, and self-tie waist belt means it can be worn loose and open with big knits, or cinched in at the waist if you’re wearing it over a fitted dress. Trust me, it's one to wear on repeat.

THE PERFECT BOOTS

The briefest of sandal seasons went past in a flash, and whilst we are reluctant to stow them away until next year, the excitement of boots beckons. Berlin-based Aeyde is the master of excellent footwear, with understated twists to elevate shoe-cupboard stalwarts. We love the pointed toe and angular heel of these modernised Chelsea boots. The elasticated inserts also makes for ankle-skimming silhouette. Pair with flares, mini skirts, and everything in between.

THE STRIPED KNIT

I can't scroll through Instagram right now without being greeted by an array of Breton-striped sweaters. Whilst the wardrobe staple rarely goes out of style, it seems to be having a real fashion moment just now – which may explain why the perfect knit is top of my wish list. Whilst the must-have ARKET knit is frustratingly out of stock, I have found consolation in this Totême iteration in a heavyweight wool-cotton mix. It's a late-summer staycation wardrobe hero.

THE WATCH

Upgrade your wrist candy with the joy-exuding DolceVita Brights collection from Longines. As we descend into autumn, this capsule is perfectly timed to inject a pop of colour into an otherwise monochrome palette. Available in exuberant orange, yellow, green, and lavendar, these leather straps are interchangable, so you can switch up your chosen hue, depending on how daring you feel.

THE NEW LEATHER

There is always room in our wardrobes for more leather, and this oversized shacket – from emerging label Ro & Zo – in the most buttery of sheep leather is suitably luxe. It's ultra-flattering, thanks to the longline silhouette and waist-cinch belt, and we'll be wearing ours on repeat with myriad outfit combinations.
