With further travel restrictions set to lift in a matter of days, you may well be considering catching some autumnal sun in Greece, Croatia, or further afield.
Indeed, the anticipation and excitement of peoples’ return to travel is front of mind for many designers this autumn, and even inspired Maje’s FW21 campaign: The Plane. Comprising chic athleisure and statement-making separates, it conjures all the excitement and anticipation of the journey to a destination.
If you are ready to re-embrace the jet-set lifestyle, then now is the time to consider your airport attire. Tempting as it is to pull on your favourite leggings and sweatshirt combination pre-flight, a carefully honed airport look can be all you need to be upgraded to First Class – in short: don’t overlook your in-transit wardrobe. The smallest details can make all the difference when it comes to making your look that little more luxe: from a heavyweight cotton fabrication (if a modest T-shirt is your item of choice), to opting for cashmere and silk – which will not only look suitably expensive, but will also add a welcome dose of comfort when the air-con kicks in mid-flight.
We caught up with Ella-Louise Gaskell, of P.S. Online Styling, for her insider tips to achieving First-Class fashion.
Gaskell’s Top Tips:
– Stick to one ‘pop’ of colour to enliven a neutral outfit.
– Try to mix up high-street and designer – vintage or second-hand designer counts too. You only need one hero piece to instantly elevate the whole look
– If in doubt, stick to monochrome. Jeans, a white T-shirt, and a black blazer is my go-to airport outfit. No matter what you are wearing, throwing a blazer over instantly makes the whole look chic.
– Statement-making sunglasses are a prerequisite if really want to up your game at the check-in desk.
– If packing light, layer up your jewellery. You can wear a plain white T-shirt and black jeans, layered with necklaces, earrings, and rings to instantly make it a look.
