This Week CF Loves: 08.11.2021

The weeks are rolling by and our diary is filling up, so now’s the time to take stock and indulge in a little forward planning.

From the beauty treatment to book ahead of your next holiday, to the new dining spots to note, check out this week’s hotlist for the full lowdown.

EAT/SHOP THIS JOY X Sotheby’s

Stevie Parle and Tom Dixon’s critically acclaimed JOY is back as a pop-up restaurant at Sotheby’s New Bond Street. (Squeal!) The special five-day dining experience will run from 18-22 November, serving a concise à la carte breakfast and lunch menu, as well as five intimate supper clubs in the evenings, cooked by Parle using ultra-seasonal and rarely found ingredients. The immersive restaurant, styled by Dixon, will feature the designer’s unique pieces, which will be available for sale via Sotheby’s concurrently. Take a seat on a sculptural ‘HYDRO Chairs’ at one of Dixon’s ‘Tube Tables’ and indulge in a truly JOY-ful dining experience.

BOOK THIS The Maine, Mayfair

One for the diaries: The Maine, Hanover Square is opening its doors on 15 November. Blending old-world British elegance, New England extravagance, and a touch of subterranean decadence, the extensive brasserie will feature 350 covers across five rooms over three floors. Read: it’s mega. The fare is crowd pleasing, with family style menus running the gamut from raw bar to market salads to grilled fish and steak cuts. Unpretentious and accessible, we’re vibing off The Maine’s low-key decadence and booking our next lunch date ASAP.

WATCH THIS Macbeth, Royal Opera House

Part of the ROH’s Autumn 2021 season, Verdi’s Macbeth plays for a limited run from 16-30 November (so don’t delay in booking tickets). Conducted by Daniele Rustioni, Simon Keenlyside returns to the title role, which, side note, he first performed at Covent Garden in 2011, with Italian soprano Anna Pirozzi returning as Lady Macbeth. For Verdi, Shakespeare was a long-standing passion and Macbeth (the first of his three Shakespearean masterpieces) marks a shifting point for the composer. In Phyllida Lloyd’s production, audiences can expect a sinister retelling of one of Verdi’s most experimental works.

PLAN THIS PUBLIC, New York

NY stalwart PUBLIC is constantly improving itself. Re-opening in June 2021, having been closed for a year and a half during the pandemic, the hotel went all out and debuted a reinvented and rethought space. But Schrager and co has no intention to stop there. Now, PUBLIC introduces Bar Chrystie, a new, sexy, moody “Modern Classic Cocktail Bar”, and House of X, a progressive, avant-garde, multimedia, new experiential nightlife performance space by House of Yes creators. Twice the reason to spend Thursday through Saturday here, so. For the remainder of the week, the hotel has introduced a new whizzy Wellness Program as well as an exclusive Chef’s Tasting Table. Let your preferences guide your booking choices.
