This Week CF Loves: 14.02.22

Happy Valentine’s! The day is yours to celebrate in a myriad of ways, from tucking into delicate desserts whipped up by Cédric Grolet, to shopping for a wowing tome on diamonds (with later plans to purchase a precious jewel IRL), and more.

Scroll on for this week’s rundown in full.

READ THIS Diamonds, Assouline

Know someone who would love this title? Us too! Exploring ‘today’s expression of natural diamonds and their continuous impact on the world’, this new tome ‘dives into tales of the world’s most captivating stones, from the Hope Diamond to the legend of the Beau Sancy Diamond’. The definitive book on the world’s most sought-after jewel, Diamonds features wowing images alongside interviews with top designers, tastemakers, and enthusiasts alike.

TRY THIS Cédric Grolet at The Berkeley

Patisserie master Cédric Grolet opens his first London patisserie today at The Berkeley. His much-feted desserts are oh-so photogenic, intricately designed, and perfectly flavoured – fruits and flower cakes (which are available for takeaway) are the main draw. Why not head down to the high-end pastry ‘lab’, designed by French interior designer Remi Tessier, today and see for yourself? Form and orderly queue now…

BOOKMARK THIS The Grand Adventure

To mark the centennial of Agatha Christie’s 10-month voyage around the world, Black Tomato have created Agatha’s ‘grand tour’. Designing a monumental trip (plus, a scene-setting prelude in London), which can be taken either in three ‘chapters’ (Africa, New Zealand and Australia, North America) or as a 40-night whole, this odyssey around the globe offers travellers the chance to see the world through Agatha’s eyes and footsteps – and to better appreciate how travel inspired her lifetime of writing and mystery.

WEAR THIS Horsebit Straw Hat, Gucci

In anticipation of our Easter holidays, we’ve been adding some spring-like items to our virtual cart. Amongst them, this beige fedora from Gucci. Encased by a tan leather strap secured with signature horse-bit hardware, its vintage silhouette rendered in soft straw is the perfect accoutrement to afternoons spent roaming through vineyards or lounging by the pool.

SHOP THIS Chateau Orlando

Over the weekend, artist and designer Luke Edward Hall launched Chateau Orlando, a new fashion and lifestyle brand for the person and home. Introducing itself with a knitwear collection, ‘POSTCARDS FROM THE CASTLE‘, the range ‘evokes vignettes of medieval castles and ancient botanical gardens’, and comprises of a selection of jumpers, cardigans, knitted vests and polo shirts, alongside trays and posters. Choose your favourite items and don them on your next trip to Craigievar Castle in Scotland.
