Rediscovering handbag investments, sustainability in kidswear and London’s best Japanese?
This week’s hotlist is one you won’t want to miss. Scroll on to discover what’s on our radar this week.
Annabel’s is the place where you really expect nothing less than the best, alongside pure opulence. If you can be lucky enough to tag along with a member, make your way upstairs to the first floor where they have just launched ‘The Japanese’. The previous ‘The Elephant Bar’ has transformed into an elegant, contemporary Japanese dining space, re-visualised with traditional de Gournay wallpaper, Japanese prints, and grand handblown Murano glass chandeliers. Touches of turquoise and Ochre and Terracotta velvet banquettes with hand-embroidered cushions create a balanced and sensory atmosphere.
Onto the menu, you’ll find a selection of sumptuous Japanese favourites including grilled wagyu sirloin with fresh wasabi; tuna tataki; rock shrimp & yuzu kosho; aubergine, kinome miso and tomatoes; seaweed salad and apple; and matcha éclairs with cherries to finish. Libations abound with a carefully curated selection of the world’s best sakes and sochu, alongside an array of the finest and rarest champagnes in the world, available by the glass, a first for Annabel’s, made possible by Coravin. As far as décor and food go, it really is nothing less than exceptional.
Drawing upon the worlds of Japan and France, EviDenS de Beauté is injecting a newfound romance into skincare. The founder Charles-Edouard Barthes was inspired by Eriko, his wife and muse. The Franco-Japanese brand is the perfect alchemy between authenticity, expertise, and luxury. Embracing culture and paying homage to his country of origin, he has developed a refined and inspiring line for all women and skin types, even the most sensitive. Loved by spas around the world including the celebrated Hôtel de Crillon, Paris and Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth, its latest line looks to hydration, encouraging the natural production of collagen. While the price tag packs a punch, the formulation gives results that are worth every penny.
An impromptu picnic requires a (not-so-patchy) spot of grass in the park, some friends and some good wine – and these are the best ingredients for a summer afternoon. The new Gail Picnic on the Green Hamper. is the perfect final ingredient. Serving enough for 4 people, the Gail’s picnic tote bag comes with a beetroot salad, summer greens salad, olive sourdough, baguette, Quicke’s whey butter, CB salami, Quicke’s cheddar, a bag of madeleines, four Wildpress drinks & four borekitas. Go on, make the most of the last summer days of the year.
While shopping for kids can bring utter joy, it can also be one of our most wasteful pursuits (Fact: on average, during their first four years of life children go through 748 pieces of clothing.) With babies outgrowing clothes and holiday wear lasting, well, the holiday, it’s about time the rental revolution took on kidswear.
Enter Babu. Specifically catered to designer baby and kids fashion, you can choose one of the carefully curated boxes and you’ll receive pieces by some of the world’s top brands, including Balmain, Emilio Pucci, Caramel and Tartine et Chocolat. Adding to their stylish credentials is the fact that their capsule collections are chosen by some of the capital’s most fashionable tastemakers (who also happen to be mothers), including Louise Roe, Mary Charteris and Rosanna Falconer. If curated boxes are not for you, you can also build your own box, allowing you to choose your own 10-15 pieces. Once garments are no longer in rentable condition, Babu passes them on to their sustainable impact partner Xetrov, who convert them into renewable energy through a cutting-edge advanced thermal treatment process. Sign up and your kid is guaranteed to be the chicest and greenest tot in town.
