A final summer jaunt perhaps?

Make the most of the last of summer with days out to the Newt, nourish your ethical side with conscious purchases and finish it all with London’s finest baklava.

BOOK THIS DAY OUT Great Garden Escape, The Newt

Has this summer exceeded expectations? Make sure to close #summer2022 with a magnificent outdoor escapade to The Newt. In the last remaining of its summer garden adventures, you are invited to journey back to nature aboard The Great Garden Escape, boarding Fridays and Saturdays until 24 September. The day begins with a scenic journey to the old market town of Castle Cary, complete with a freshly prepared estate breakfast picnic. On site, meander through an espaliered apple-tree maze in The Parabola. Steel yourself for an aerial walk on The Viper treetop walkway, snaking 40ft above the forest floor. Transport yourself to the world’s most famous gardens in virtual reality pods in the Story of Gardening, admiring the abundant fruit trees of Babylonstoren or or gazing into the lily ponds at Monet’s Giverny. All hands on deck for the green fingers among us, picking, tasting and smelling the produce which grows. Finally, lunch in the glass-walled Garden Cafe. Leave the city behind, take a day to prioritise your wellbeing and immerse yourself in nature, returning feeling revitalised after a day in the fresh air and charming company of Somerset.

BUY THIS Vrai

Offering a more ethical and sustainable alternative to mined gemstones, Vrai is paving the way in fine jewellery. Literally translating to “truth” from French, Vrai forges each of its precious gemstones in its zero emission foundry; each piece is then cut, polished and set in recycled gold and platinum. In the revival of the tennis bracelet, Vrai has now launched the high octane bracelet featuring round brilliant and emerald or baguette-shaped diamonds lined up side by side in this masterfully-crafted tennis bracelet design. Go on, treat yourself. Mind over mined.

ENJOY THIS HydraFacial at The Lanesborough Club & Spa

In an exclusive partnership, The Lanesborough Club & Spa introduces an exclusive menu of HydraFacials. A series of deeply relaxing, cleansing, and revitalising treatments, a six-step process applies ‘super serums’  to target individual skin concerns. Created just for The Lanesborough Club & Spa, book in for your very own bespoke 90-minute HydraFacial which, in addition to the signature six-step process, incorporates LED light therapy to target and reduce ageing and wrinkles, followed by a lymphatic drainage massage and EMS technology to firm, contour and lift the face, to deliver what many consider to be the most effective non-surgical facelift. The final step in the process is the luxury liquid 24-carat gold face mask. Ahead of the treatment, relax in the Spa’s impressive hydrotherapy pool and thermal suites, dine in the restaurant serving light, fresh cuisine, and make a day of it.

DRINK THIS SodaStream

Outside of hydration in the summer months, elevate water from a flat biological necessity to a fun, bubbly treat. We’re looking at you Sodastream. The all-new Art is a stylish addition to our kitchen tabletops. Featuring a slim silhouette, chic design, stainless steel trim and a unique carbonation lever – in a chic black or classic white – sparkling water is now quite literally, a work of Art. Much like the bubbles in champagne, the bubbles in our water are a personal taste. Experiment with levels of fizz and different flavour combinations. Plus you can save the use of thousands of single-use plastic bottles, with one gas cylinder making up to 60 litres of bubbles.

EAT HERE Zahter, Carnaby Street, London

Esra Muslu, former Head Chef at Ottolenghi Spitalfields brings “Istanbulite” cuisine to Carnaby Street in her first standalone venture. This isn’t a place you want to stubble upon, this is the place you book and head directly for. Exposed brick, industrial beams, brass lamps and a blue-tiled, marble-topped chef’s counter that surrounds a central, flickering charcoal oven catch the eye dishing out the food that quickly arrives to your table. Hot and cold mezze dishes are all accompanied by freshly baked pide and lavash straight out of that wood-fired oven. Expect bowls of labneh with green chilli & candied sunflowers; delicate slices of citrus-marinaded sea bass with kumquat; and a whole artichoke flower stuffed with spiced rice & roasted almonds. After that, the hot dishes include roasted tiger prawns with garlic Aleppo pepper butter; oil-braised fennel with orange & feta cream; and smoked aubergines with chilli jam & fried garlic. End the meal with the flakiest and quite frankly, most memorable pistachio-dusted baklava you’ll have ever had. While the coffee is good (Turkish, after all), you may want to leave the baklava as your lasting flavour.
