We’re embracing the winter season and all its glory.

As the autumn weather turns, it brings with it the opportunity to indulge in a spot of seasonal shopping, dining, and maybe even some festive planning. Bookmark this page now. Here’s what we’re loving this week.

EAT HERE Il Borro Tuscan Bistro

Until December, Il Borro Tuscan Bistro in London’s Mayfair invites diners to indulge in a limited edition menu, with each dish showcasing the luxurious and highly sought-after treasure that is the white truffle. Our favourite picks? Carpaccio di manzo e tartufo bianco: thin slices of beef tenderloin dressed with Il Borro’s extra virgin olive oil from its Tuscan estate finished with freshly grated slices of white truffle. And, an upgrade to your pizza game: their grand pizza al tartufo bianco, a thin base baked in the restaurant’s in-house pizza oven, topped with creamy buffalo mozzarella PDO, and of course, white truffle.

For preparation, white truffles are almost never cooked. The power of their flavour is in their strong scent, and cooking them will destroy that. Simply sliced thinly (a truffle shaver is a must for this task) over a finished dish, the heat of the food releases the aroma. Called the “diamond of the kitchen” by 18th-century epicurean Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin, the truffle is prized among discerning food lovers. Priced at £22 per gram, it’s no wonder why.

SHOP THIS American Vintage Kids

American Vintage is an ode to simplicity, their trademark style underpinned by casual cuts and a nuanced colour range. Now the brand has adapted its signature adult T-shirts, sweatshirts, and joggers for children with jerseys, fleeces, knitwear and denim for 3 to 11 years old. With the upcoming travel season and the need for a winter wardrobe, there’s no better collection to stock up with for mini mes: fun, spontaneous, cool and easy basics, allowing kids the freedom to move around, play, run and learn.

BOOK THIS Villa D'Este, Lake Como

In celebration of its 150th season, Lake Como’s grande dame Villa d’Este has hosted a year of special events, menus, programming and more, all culminating in another rare occasion: the hotel will remain open until January, to host Christmas and New Year’s Eve festivities. Cue a mad scramble for bookings.

A sparkling glasshouse has been commissioned, inviting guests for immersive dinners (taking place on 2nd November, 9th November, 4th December, and 18th December). Discerning travellers can also indulge in festive panettoni prepared by the hotel’s Pastry Chef. Cooking classes are available for guests with a penchant for baking who want to learn how to make the sweet Italian treat. Additionally, on the 1st December there will be a special cocktail soirée to celebrate the switching on of the Villa d’Este Christmas lights. How else to celebrate in style than in that of Gable and Garbo to George Clooney.

COSY UP UNDER THIS Slow Down Studio throw

Want your throw to be a work of art in its own right? Slowdown Studio has got you covered. Turning art into throws, it’s about livening up your living space and making your soft furnishings work that extra bit harder for you. Go for The Sakamoto, designed by Kobayashi Ikki in a celebration of contemporary Japanese design. Mix together the aesthetic with recycled cotton and you have your new favourite blanket.

WEAR THIS KHAITE Iris leather backpack

If anything is going to become your staple accessory, let this be it. Khaite’s ‘Iris’ backpack is chic, sophisticated, and practical. You can feel confident packing it for your daily commute or on weekend trips. It’s been crafted in Italy from smooth, butter soft black leather in an unstructured silhouette topped with gold-tone hardware to match the logo stamp. The slim straps adjust to your ideal fit, and the cotton-lined interior has plenty of space for a planner, water bottle, and spare flats.
