Has daylight savings affected your sleep schedule?

Sleep solutions and the start of feel-good Christmas shopping are at the top of our list. Here’s what we’re loving this week.

STAY HERE Hôtel Dame des Arts, Paris

Israeli-born designer Raphael Navot (who recently launched his first furniture collection for Loro Piana) has bespoked almost every last interior element of the brand new Hôtel Dame des Arts, from the wall coverings to the blackened-oak floors. Celebrating the innovative establishment of France’s culture base from yesteryear – the marriage of philosophy, art, music, and the gathering of talented minds in a social setting, the hotel nods to a Nouvelle Vague movie, with the guests and team all playing their part. Officially welcoming guests back January 2023, it brings the artistic Left Bank into its core with over 700 curated works of art with links to St Germain, each of the 109 rooms presenting its own collection.

Top tip: Pick one of the rooms with a balcony overlooking vistas of the Eiffel Tower and Sacré Coeur.

SHOP THIS Veronica Beard Haberdashery xx VV Rouleaux

Veronica Beard launches a haberdashery with VV Rouleaux at their Flagship Townhouse on Bruton Street. Design your own bespoke creation using VV Rouleaux’s extraordinary trims, ribbons, and fabric flowers. Choose a piece from the AW22 collection – including coats, jackets, and jeans – before visiting the haberdashery and getting a drink at the bar while you wait for your one-off statement creation to be made. There’s also an edit of vintage T-shirts sourced by stylist and pre-loved fashion guru, Bay Garnett, all of which are available to customise.

GO HERE Treasure Trove at Selfridge's London

Treasure Trove started when V’s founder, Laura Vann, discovered that her jeweller father Timothy had amassed a ‘treasure trove’ of one off pieces of second-hand fine jewellery during his 30+ years in the industry. Hidden away in his workshop vault, she uncovered these gems and decided to give them a new home, selling them via Instagram. It started as a daily 1pm sale – first DM first serve. But soon Treasure Trove became a frenzy with people setting lunchtime alarms to ensure they were first to get their hands on unique pieces, at amazing prices. Today, Laura sifts through piles of once loved jewellery, accessing amazing pieces and bringing a slice of history to a wider market. As part of the “Reselfridges” initiative, you can shop Treasure Trove in-store at Selfridges Oxford Street until the end of the year.

USE THIS London Velvet Weekend Bag

Independent British accessories brand, London Velvet, launches (just in time for Christmas gifting) the canvas Weekend Bag, designed with stylish countryside jaunts and city breaks in mind. Handcrafted from an innovative and robust canvas material and top-quality vegetan leather, the holdall recalls smart weekenders from the golden age of travel when everything, from glamorous dresses and stilettos to skiing and shooting gear, was piled into the back of a Morris Minor in spontaneous spirit. Channelling the same nostalgic escapism, just with more focus on functionality, the holdall is perfectly sized and designed for carry-on luggage, with the sides cleverly collapsing to ensure compliance with all major airlines. Long leather straps allow the bag to swing over shoulders layered with thick jumpers, suits, and ski jackets, while a crossbody satin grosgrain strap provides an alternative, hands-free form of travel through airports and stations. Or, to avoid carrying anything altogether, the timeless weekender slots easily onto a wheelie with a smart leather sleeve.

SLEEP WITH THIS OTO CBD sleep drops

Has the clock change unstabilised your circadian rhythm? Any new sleep schedule that differs from your body’s natural cycle is dubbed “social jet lag”, so called because it mimics the effects of long-haul travel, when the body clock is thrown out by the different time zones. Bath oils and weighted blankets may help rebalance. CBD can also help with sleep routine disruptions as it improves the body’s circadian functioning. For a deeper sleep and increased levels of alertness during the day (making you typically more tired when it comes to bedtime), try Oto’s 1500mg Sleep Drops. Once your head is on your pillow, a quick breathing exercise can help you drop off into a faster, deeper, longer, and more restful sleep. This is the one thing you’ll insist you get into bed with.
