CF Beauty Editor's Favourite New Beauty Products This December

Citizen Femme’s contributing beauty editor, Becki Murray, rounds up the best new December beauty launches – these are products that the team are actually using and loving.

Every month it seems more and more new products are launching – and competing for space within our beauty routines. This month, as festive shopping is in full swing, we’re recommending skin-soothing skincare and mood-boosting home fragrances. From Augustinus Bader’s nourishing face mask to Sensai’s lash lengthening mascara, these are the best December beauty launches.

If, like me, your skin tends to get dry and tired-looking at this time of year, Augustinus Bader's latest innovation is here to help. The mask's rich and creamy texture provides both instant and more long-lasting hydration, while vitamin C, ginseng extract, and a polysaccharide complex help firm, smooth, and brighten your complexion. For a fresh-out-of-the-spa skin glow after just 10 minutes, use the clever metal applicator to further cool and depuff, especially around tired eyes.

Nothing says festive season quite like gold glitter, and the Victoria Beckham Beauty Lid Lustre in (new shade) Velvet embodies it. The golden olive shade is flattering for all skin tones and contains over 60% soft pearlescent pigments, so there's lots of shimmer to enjoy. Minimalists shouldn't shy away either – the formula can be lightly layered for a more subtle finish too.

Previously sold only in skin clinics, Neostrata's targeted skin solutions are now available online after a UK relaunch. My favourite is the Illuminating Serum, which helped tackle some dark spots I picked up in the sun this summer around my nose. The hero ingredient is NeoGlucosamine, a gentle non-irritating exfoliator, and multitasking niacinamide is in the mix too.

There's something particularly joy-inspiring about the smell of scented steam trailing from a hot bubble bath on a cold winter night. These bath salts from Skin + Tonic are on my gifting list. Inspired by the Japanese ritual of forest bathing, the blend of mineral-rich Epsom salts, CBD, and cedarwood, eucalyptus, and rosemary oils has a magic way of relieving feelings of winter sluggishness.

The luxury artisanal fragrance brand, Maison d'Etto, has launched its first candle collection just in time for Christmas – and they are perfect for snuggling up with this December. There are five scents to choose from, including my personal highlight, Durban Jane – a warming, nutty, and cocooning aroma of sandalwood, orris, and ambrette.

Whether you like wearing lots of makeup or not, the right mascara can elevate your festive beauty looks in a single swipe. My recommendation: Sensai's newest formula that uses shape-forming polymers to gently stretch your lashes for boosted length and volume, alongside a precision brush that gets to even the shortest hairs.

This Christmas Eve, I'm planning a beauty look that revolves around a super sleek high ponytail. I'm looking to this latest styling gel innovation, from the hairstylist Sam McKnight, to help. The vegan formula is suitable for all hair types and lengths. Plus, it provides the high-shine hold I've been searching for, without a greasy finish.

My advice is to stock up on Fenty Beauty's glow-boosting serum pre-Christmas (or ask for it in your stocking this year) as it's just the ticket for worn-out winter skin come January. The hero ingredients of niacinamide, vitamin C, licorice root extract, and Barbados cherry work together to add radiance to your complexion, without resorting to exfoliants that can leave drier skin types sore.

Oskia's skin-soothing balm was so popular on first release that it totally sold-out. Luckily, it's back and worth adding to your shopping list. The formula focuses on supporting your skin's barrier with nourishing ingredients such as colloidal oats, amino acids, and ceramides working against irritators such as central heating and cold winds. I like to use it straight out the shower, especially on dry patches of skin.

With a lot of home fragrances, you tend to go 'nose blind' and stop smelling them after a while. Not so with NEST New York's Charcoal Woods Reed Diffuser. It uses tinted wax to ensure a long-lasting fragrant burn that lingers in any room. The smoky scent of black truffle, cedarwood, and patchouli will captivate and delight your house guests.
