What CF's Beauty Editor Is Shopping This December

As festive shopping reaches a crescendo this month, Citizen Femme’s beauty editor, Becki Murray, rounds up the best new December beauty launches.

Whether you are looking for a gift for a friend or family member, or want a little something for yourself in the hectic run up to Christmas, our review of the best new beauty launches for December has plenty of inspiration.

From Glossier’s super-giftable cosy candle to the statement lipstick to wear on New Year’s Eve, these are the best December beauty launches that the CF team love and recommend this month.

THE GLOW BOOSTER

Due to the brand's hero moisturising ingredient, squalane, this cream will instantly leave sore, tight winter-worn skin feeling a little fresher. What's more, the addition of fermented lemon peel and rose will supercharge hydration giving a much-needed radiance boost.

THE GOURMAND FRAGRANCE

The new generation of 'good enough to eat' gourmand fragrances are not the sickly, childish iterations of old. Case in point, Ellis Brooklyn's ode to New York City – Apple Love. It's a lighter, cosier take on the fruity sweetness of apple; perfect for spritzing onto your scarf or coat this winter.

THE PERFECT GIFT

If you're stuck for present ideas this Christmas, look no further than Glossier. The brand's new candles will make the perfect gift for the host of your Christmas festivities – although we'd recommend buying one for yourself too. The newest addition, Sandstone, is our top pick for creating a fresh and energising atmosphere in any living room.

THE BODY CREAM

This body cream is the ultimate combination of indulgent treat and targeted results-driven skincare. Its instant nourishing and soothing effect is incredibly welcome for winter-worn limbs, but it also uses retinol – an anti-ageing hero ingredient for your face – to help smooth and plump your skin overtime. Even if you tend to be lazy when it comes to bodycare, you'll love this.

THE STATEMENT LIP

Our beauty editor intends to wear this bold red lipstick – the latest shade to join the Rouge Hermès Satin Lipstick collection – on New Year's Eve. That's because the deep and warm rouge shade is extremely flattering on all skin tones, the hydrating formula will plump and define your pout, and the packaging is iconic when pulled out of your makeup bag.

THE ICONIC CREAM

In response to customer demand (and just in time for Christmas), Augustinus Bader has unveiled larger 100ml versions of its iconic The Cream and The Rich Cream formulas. In even better news, they are still under the liquids limit if you want to take this luxury treat away with you on your winter travels.

THE LIMITED EDITION PALETTE

Hourglass' limited edition animal-themed palettes (which raise money in aid of the Nonhuman Rights Project) are always covetable items but, this year, the statement Snake compact also features five new shades. The range of blushers, bronzer and highlighter are just as pretty as the packaging illustrated by artist Katie Scott.

THE BATHTIME TREAT

A makeup artist launching bodycare might seem like an unusual move, but the makeup artist Jamie Genevieve – known for her easy-to-use complexion-enhancing products – proves it can really work. Our favourite is this luxurious skin-softening body wash, which can also be used as a bath oil to upgrade your long wintry soaks.

THE RICH MOISTURISER

Caroline Hirons strikes again with a dependable moisturiser that is a skin-saviour for dry, chapped skin. From the velvety texture to the blend of moisturising ceramides and lipid-rich oils at its heart, you can trust the formula to see you through all your winter travels.

THE PARTY GLOW

Clé de Peau Beauté has given its iconic Luminizing Face Enhancer a Christmas makeover and now the packaging is just as glow-worthy as the powder inside. The covetable limited edition offering makes a lovely gift – to yourself or a close friend – and the skin finish you'll achieve will look great in all your festive photographs.

THE EYE REVIVER

What with festive parties and seeing relatives, December can be an exhausting month and it quickly shows around your eyes. Luckily, we've discovered Revision Skincare is bringing its iconic eye cream to the UK just in time. It uses 10 per cent vitamin C and a whole host of other brightening ingredients to banish the appearance of dark, under-eye circles and puffiness.
