Tweak Of The Week: Bamford's Detox And Glow

Tweak of the Week is Citizen Femme’s in-depth beauty treatment and tweakment review series. From high-tech facials and device-driven bodycare to needling and injectables, these are the tried-and-tested services that the CF team deem worth the investment.

This week, Citizen Femme’s fashion editor, Gemma Louise Deeks, tried Bamford’s Detox and Glow as she looked to target dry, winter skin and to enter February with a refreshed mindset.

If you’re in need of some TLC after surviving the most dreary month of the year, this treatment is for you. Available at Bamford’s soothing Brompton Cross spa in the heart of South Kensington, Detox and Glow is a new offering available for just two months (until the end of February 2023) and is designed to give you the boost you need for the year ahead. Read on for the full review.

What is Detox and Glow?

The Detox and Glow treatment uses ancient techniques designed to help you feel your best; benefits include softer skin, a more relaxed mindset and improved gut health.

The ritual starts with skin brushing of the back, to target dry skin and impurities, before moving on to a back massage to release tension, an abdominal massage to improve gut health, and an express resurfacing facial to give you a glow.

How does it improve your mind and body?

Bamford is known for relaxing, restoring and nurturing your well-being in a gentle holistic way and this treatment is designed to do just that.

Dry body brushing is a traditional Ayurvedic practice carried out on dry skin to help smooth your skin and boost lymphatic flow through manual exfoliation. It will reveal more radiant skin and encourage the removal of toxins and the process of lymphatic drainage.

Once you’re buffed to perfection, the back massage focuses on the most common area of tension in the body – often from postural stress – whilst helping relieve emotional stress too. If you have knots, your therapist will press until the tension eases.

The abdominal massage is next, another ancient practice which is believed to encourage improved gut health and digestion. While this part of the process doesn’t have the relaxing, feel-good effect of massaging tired muscles, it isn’t an unpleasant experience. It supposedly releases emotional and physical stress: symptoms that can manifest on the skin’s surface.

To finish, an express resurfacing facial boosts skin radiance using powerful fruit enzymes. Using only a handful of products, you’ll see instant results.

Who is the Detox and Glow suitable for?

Anyone who is suffering from stress, tension or poor gut health. The resurfacing facial is also great for those with tired, dull-looking skin.

How many treatments do you need?

The beauty of Detox and Glow is that you need just one treatment to feel the benefits.

How long does it take to see results?

Detox and Glow offers instant results. Tension is relieved on the spot, and you’ll walk away with a renewed glow.

What is the aftercare advice?

You’re advised to relax for the rest of your day and drink plenty of water. Book this on your day off.

Why is it Tweak of the Week worthy?

Though you’re advised to relax for the rest of the day, there’s no downtime for skin and body recovery: you’ll look fresh immediately after your treatment. The session takes just one hour of your day, and you’ll instantly feel a release of tension – something we all need with our busy multifaceted lives.
