This Week CF Loves: 22.05.23

Summer is calling! From a perfect Venetian Spritz to a tomatini cocktail (a fancy version of the Bloody Mary) to a perfectly chilled glass of champagne, all hail the sunshine.

We are most definitely in the mood to be out and about, celebrating art and indeed celebrating women. This is the only to-do list you need in this week CF Loves.

BOOK THIS Colors Festival

Immersive art is all the rage. From Frameless to David Hockney’s immersive exhibition to the Saatchi Gallery’s exhibition dedicated to street art. Now, the city is about to get another. Step into a world of vibrant colours and imagination at the Colors Festival. Discover a universe of paintings, photography, and illustrations, get hands-on with interactive installations and experience art like never before. The exhibition will feature a mix of up-and-coming and established street artists, including the likes of Angry Dan, Kekli, Remi Cierco, Hazard One, Lisa Lloyd, Dale Grimshaw, One Mizer and more. Adding to Camden’s already artsy aesthetic, a selection of art from the aforementioned 40 artists is going to be displayed in larger than life fashion. This XXL art exhibition promises to be one of the most colourful London has ever seen.

EAT HERE LPM London

With a well-established buzz, in amongst a clean-lined dining room splashed with colours of the Med, LPM London (previously known as LPM Restaurant and Bar) always feels special, yet its the kind of place you will want to frequent. You can sit inside – bright and convivial by day, sultry by night – or just in time for sunny days, take a pew out on the terrace for some al fresco dining, it could just be one of our favourites. Warm prawns in buttery olive oil, ratatouille with feta, and baby chicken marinated in Amalfi lemon are some favourites, followed by classic desserts which are always on point including their signature crème brulée (made for sharing but can surely be eaten by one). A much-to-be-craved wine list is on offer with plenty of good rosés should that be the mood. But even better is the tomatini cocktail, described as ‘the essence of LPM in a martini glass’, an LPM London version of the Bloody Mary. This small corner of Mayfair takes you away to the Riviera on every visit.

DRINK HERE Global Spritz Week

It’s one of the world’s most popular cocktails, and now the vibrant spritz is getting its own dedicated week of celebrations, thanks to Select Aperitivo, the key ingredient in the original Venetian Spritz. The first edition of Select Spritz Week will debut in Venice from the 25th to 28th May before launching in the UK on 26th May until 4th June. The wider world will follow – including New York, Paris and Sydney. In the UK, spritz celebrations will take place across London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Manchester, and Margate. Londoners can head to Sophie’s Soho for a 10-day long Select Aperitivo takeover, including masterclasses, DJs nights, special menus, and drinks – Sophie’s turns into a Venetian destination in the heart of the city until 4th June. Or perhaps enjoy Summer by the River, the popular destination at London Bridge City where Venice comes to London with food, drinks and entertainment.

SHOP THIS Ancient Greek Sandals

Art, history and tradition come together with essential summer brand Ancient Greek Sandals. For those searching for something sleek and dainty, the skinny strap sandal is definitely having a major moment. Founded by Christina Martini and Nikolas Minoglou out of the love for Greece, the brand is created with influences from the Greek Gods, myths, pottery, jewellery, and sculpture, all combined for shoes that are perfect for the pavement or for the beach. Look to the winged pairs in their collection inspired by ‘Talaria’ – a symbol of the Greek messenger god, Hermes, who is said to be made by the god Hephaestus of imperishable gold and flew the god as swift as any bird. All the footwear is handmade locally using traditional techniques that have existed for centuries, chemical-free, and notably natural tan leather ages well so the more you wear them, the more beautiful they get.

GO HERE Veuve Clicquot

With a heritage of female entrepreneurship, Veuve Clicquot are bringing together bold females for an evening of inspiring conversation on Friday 26th May, where Elizabeth Day (known for her chart-topping podcast, How To Fail With Elizabeth Day) and Kate Stephens (of Smart Works Charity) will discuss the power of friendship, strength in sisterhood and how female connections can empower, inspire and motivate every aspect of life. Along with a complimentary glass of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label, the evening will include a walk-through exhibition, an opportunity for networking and a goody bag. If you can’t make this, a showcase of 9 bold and renowned female artists from around the world, SOLAIRE CULTURE is exhibiting in a free exhibition shining a light on 250 years of Veuve Clicquot’s history, whilst celebrating one of the world’s first female entrepreneurs, Madame Clicquot. The exhibition presents her life and inventions through historic gems and the artistic interpretations of seven artists: Yayoi Kusama, Inès Longevial, Cece Philips, Rosie McGuinness, Pénélope Bagieu, Olimpia Zagnoli and Moyoco Anno.
