Is this your summer bucketlist hotel? Show-stopping manis, top-notch al fresco dining and candy-marble interiors are all here to brighten up your day, your week, maybe even your year.
This is what we are loving in this week’s Citizen Femme hotlist.
In an increasingly connected world, maintaining a healthy relationship with technology is essential. Digital wellbeing has been integrated into the world of the Google Pixel, helping users strike a balance between screen time and real-life experiences. These devices feature comprehensive app timers, Do Not Disturb mode, and Wind Down, promoting healthy habits and enabling users to enjoy uninterrupted quality time with family, friends and themselves. Add to this, super productivity packaged into a slimline gadget, fitting into the palm of your hand and sliding into your pocket of your handbag. Flip it open to reveal a 7.6-inch screen in a thinner profile than any other phone. Whether it’s open or closed, the Pixel Fold’s screens unlock endless ways of having fun and getting things done. When fully open, the large, immersive screen gives you all the benefits of a tablet: watching shows, reading books, playing games, or just enjoying having space to get more things done. But it’s the camera that takes your holiday snaps to another level. Capture brilliant rear camera selfies, low-light photos and pixel-perfect videos – even hands-free.
Just in time for summer holiday mani-pedis, Chanel’s new Le Vernis 23 nail polish collection of nine shades (plus matching mini nail files, mirrors, and brush sets) has arrived to ensure you are never short of manicure inspiration. The fast-drying, chip-resistant formulas now come with a slightly wider brush, after feedback from leading nail technicians, to make flawless, quick application easier. You can even try on your favourite shades virtually on the Chanel website, so you know you’ll be happy with the end result. Our recommendations: the light green Cavalier Seul and lilac Immortelle are the sort of shades that will have people stopping you to ask, ‘where did you get your nails done.’ Becki Murray.
Now that things are hotting up in London, it’s all about meeting friends for long, lazy lunches and dinners in the evening sunshine. One of our favourite al fresco spaces is the large and peaceful veranda at Toklas restaurant and bar (from the co-founders of Frieze), where they have launched a brand-new Terrace Menu that’s bursting with an assortment of snacks and spritzes. Head chef Yohei Furuhashi has curated a variety of delicious dishes, including courgette fritti and tomato and mozzarella arancini, and don’t miss the light and fluffy Toklas Bakery buns filled with pork tonnato, or mackerel escabeche. More good news – the famous Toklas chips will also be available to order by the bowlful (or two), with homemade aioli for dipping, and you can wash them down with a refreshing shiso and elderflower spritz.
Design brand MARBERA, known for their delicious candy coloured marble pieces, is the interior brand to know this summer, and onwards. Ancient and delicate with inimitable veins and wide possibilities for experimentation, marble and onyx are uniquely crafted to create functional, timeless objects, each piece starting with a single rock or slab. From plinths to coffee tables and stools, lamps to vases and smaller objects, each piece balances beauty and functionality, acting as jewellery for your home. Founded by Laura Torregrossa, whose grandfather was from a long line of marble-makers, and her parents – her mother an architect and her father a bespoke furniture maker who had a passion for marble and decoration – the creative legacy that she maintains was inevitable. Each piece is diverse, each iconic, each exquisite and, while minimalist in aesthetic, bold in impact.
Surrounded by beautiful mountains and the stunning Boka Bay, this is One&Only’s first European address, located along the Adriatic coast – a hot destination for the summer. Set at the entrance of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, One&Only Portonovi lets you explore the Montenegrin coastline – secluded beaches, lush greenery, bio-diverse National Parks, crystal clear waters and historical ancient towns. All 123 of One&Only Portonovi’s guest rooms, suites, villas and Private Homes are positioned to enjoy magnificent views with floor-to-ceiling windows and terraces, offer flexibility for romantic getaways and families, and are sleek and modern, with fireplaces for cooler nights. But it’s the ultra-luxury resort’s Chenot Espace that draws our attention. Following exquisite dining in its Michelin-star restaurant Sabia by Giorgio Locatelli, or poolside at Tapasake Club, indulge in a bespoke programme, involving nutritional consultations, detox menus, fitness schedules, targeted spa treatments, as well as hydrotherapy and cryotherapy facilities, sauna, steam room, indoor pool and relaxation areas.
