Is it time to extend our plant-based dietary requirements to nailcare? The Lanesborough Club & Spa have done exactly that in a partnership with L’Atelier Green with The Painting Room. But, why, you ask? Founders, Hamida and Yasmine, created the brand after witnessing the detrimental effects of conventional nail polishes and the harsh chemical formulas found in semi-permanent products, and so, L’Atelier Green was born. Overnight guests, members or day spa visitors can now experience the UK’s first ever plant-based and breathable nail bar. The signature manicure and pedicure involves the application of 24-carat pure gold leaves which have an antioxidant action and help the process of skin cell renewal. LED Lumijade light therapy and 24-carat pure gold have also been shown to uniquely reduce inflammation and decrease cell degradation. The brand also offers a range of natural nail polishes, with a patented brush, with a formula that is enriched with pure oils and organic superfoods providing long-lasting coverage.
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao presents Yayoi Kusama: 1945 to Now, an ambitious retrospective dedicated to one of the most influential figures of contemporary art and a cultural icon of the 21st century. The exhibition lets you immerse yourself in the obsessive, singular, avant-garde universe of Yayoi Kusama that has evolved and unfolded over the seven decades of her extraordinary artistic career. Her career runs parallel to the tumult caused in the 20th century by war, political, economic, and social transformations, and a constantly changing art scene. Her creative force, initially constrained by the conservatism of Japanese society at that time, found a perfect setting in the New York of the late 1950s for unleashing all her talent. In the ensuing decades, Kusama combined that passion with pioneering incursions into new artistic practices like performance, assemblage, or installation art, with which she traversed Pop Art, Minimalism, and Post‐Minimalism. Daring at the time, that production has now become a benchmark. From the first drawings she made as a teenager during World War II to her most recent immersive works, this retrospective gathers a selection of 200 paintings, sculptures, performances, moving images, large- scale installations, and archive materials.
