Summer holidays are in full swing and between possible trips and keeping the family entertained on home turf, we are here with plenty of inspiration for August.
There’s open-air theatre and inspiring books to read, plus new places to eat that are family-friendly as well as just what parents need for a night off, along with our top picks of hotels for families of all ages. From inspiring cultural days out and chic family getaways, to stylish junior fashion finds and go-to restaurants, here’s what the Citizen Enfants team are up to this August.

STAY I’m hoping to get in a visit to Hotel Cala di Volpe in the stunning Costa Smeralda. It has a a fab kid’s club, including a little goat and chicken farm, and a Shiseido Spa for the adults. VISIT Chelsea Physic Garden has some really lovely family activities and workshops. I’m particularly looking forward to the immersive theatre of Alice in Wonderland. DO As a treat for a weary new mama, I’m booking in for a lymphatic drainage facial massage (especially helpful after giving birth) at the clinic Montrose London. WEAR Given I’m running around all Summer, I’m very comfortable in my new LOEWE Flow Runner trainers, smart enough and enough cushioning to chase a toddler.

STAY I have spent most of the summer in Devon with my boys surfing every day, but now we are heading off to a Greece for a whole host of other water sports at the Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort Costa Navarino on the Peloponnese Coast. My eldest son wants to progress with his PADI qualifications, and my middle son wants to start, so the excellent dive school they have is going to be great. BUY Maintaining the theme of water sports, I’m buying my wave-chasing boys a super-cool Surf Trip Map from Awesome Maps. It’s a fun illustration that shows all the surf spots around the world. SEE Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is one of the best summer days out in London with children. We go every year and this August I’m taking my eight-year-old and his friend to see Dinosaur World Live. WEAR For a sunny beach day my youngest will be wearing a UV vest from Toastie Kids to protect his skin. BUY The new Arizona Love kid’s collection is just the cutest. I’ll be picking up a few pieces for sure. READ The People Power series is a fantastic collection of non-fiction books for children. The latest one Super Sports Stars Who Are Changing the Game celebrates the achievements of role models such as the Olympic sprinter Cathy Freeman and Premier League star Marcus Rashford. Each entry also includes breakout boxes with suggested activities.

STAY We are off on a staycation in Rye, Sussex to a little house we found on Unique Home Stays. I am looking forward to exploring the area and hopefully lots of tea and cakes in National Trust Houses. PLAY For the summer weeks in London it is hard to know how to entertain the kids, but we have just discovered the amazing Hobbledown Heath which is full of adventure and games. The perfect day out. TRY Bamford Baby! I love the beautiful packaging in mint green. The gentle and unscented Calendula balm and moisturiser are wonderful. Perfect for looking after your children’s skin at bath time. TWIN Olimpia and I wore matching Alicia Swim swimsuits on holiday which were the sweetest. Olimpia also had a matching bucket hat. A perfect mini-me moment! EAT Fresh coconuts. We just got back from holiday where we had fresh coconut milk everyday which we then cut open to eat the insides. The kids loved it and I loved giving them something so natural and fresh, so I’ll be on the hunt for more coconuts to eat back home too.

STAY I’m writing this from the Ikos Olivia in Halkidiki where we’ve been holidaying for the last week. It’s heaven. Delicious food, fantastic service, perfect for all ages and just beautiful. We’re already planning to return. USE My new deckchair striped The Contents Bag oversized tote has been the perfect travel and beach companion. Large enough for a family of five! The matching pouch has also been great for travel essentials. VISIT As soon as I get chance, I’ll be heading to Walton Street, SW3 to check out the new Kidswear Collective pop-up shop which I expect will be a perfect edit of coveted pre-loved & past season designer kidswear. Plus there’s also a new Blue Almonds baby and nursery boutique next door. SEE We’re yet to see the Barbie movie but desperate to! WEAR My daughters have spent most of the holidays wafting around in lovely light summer dresses from Nights by Wilder, Apolina and Lacuna Child. Dreamy, easy and effortlessly cool day and night. PLAY I’m optimistic that the weather will improve in the UK, and we’ve just done up our garden so I’m on the hunt for some lovely outdoor furniture and play pieces. I have my eye on a Petites Pommes paddling pool for my youngest to enjoy.
