The Citizen Enfants' August Hotlist

Keeping kids buckled in and entertained on summer travels can be a mighty task. We’ve got the solution for you.

Mums-to-be and new mums are covered with this rental platform revolutionising the maternity wear market, winter sun decisions are made and we are refilling tired mamas with the happy hormone. August is looking optimistic. This is what we are loving in this month’s Citizen Enfants hotlist.

USE THIS For The Creators

Meet the pioneering maternity rental platform revolutionising the maternity wear market. For The Creators launched in 2020 by Lyndsay Mason, a first-time mum on maternity leave frustrated at the lack of postnatal ranges that suited her personal style. Instead of having to invest in expensive “maternity” styles that ordinarily would never be in your wardrobe, or resorting to buying poor quality fast-fashion items that just ‘did the job’, Lyndsay wanted to create a rental service with cool, stylish, well-made outfits from brands we love, avoiding falling into the trap of fast-fashion. Sustainability is a key founding pillar of the platform: renting 1 x £100 dress (instead of buying) can save the equivalent CO2 of that produced by travelling 245 miles in a car. You won’t be short of options since For The Creators works with leading independent brands such as With Nothing Underneath, Desmond & Dempsey, Reformation, Sézane, Albaray and many more and has since expanded into beauty, launching ‘mama must haves’ including belly bump oil care, pregnancy safe supplements and more. This is the clothing subscription designed to take you through every trimester and beyond.

BUY THIS Owlet Babycare

For a new way to monitor your baby, the next-generation Owlet Cam 2 video gives parents a view of their baby from anywhere. Once you’ve downloaded the Owlet app to your device (and to any handsets of people who look after your baby), you can now monitor your baby’s subtle cues and behaviour patterns by watching video clips that capture them  before they cry, wiggle or fuss, as you are notified of any crying, movement. The best thing? The app runs on your phone in the background and will only kick in if you select it, or if your baby needs you, allowing you to get on with your life but also allowing you to check in frequently – something all new parents will appreciate. The camera has a swivel base providing an optimum view of the crib with a 130 degree field of vision. It comes with high definition picture quality, switching to night vision as the sun sets and curtains close.  Alongside existing features like room temperature and humidity level monitoring, 4x zoom, two-way talk, and night vision, the Cam 2 is available in a brand-new colour, Sleepy Sage, in addition to White. A digital babysitter you say? This camera gives parents the rest they need.

A summer of travel means parents buckling up is probably not your toddler’s favourite part of going on a trip, so parents are having to find screen-free activities to keep children happily occupied on a long flight or car journey. Look to The Play Kits by Lovevery, designed to engage a child’s attention and their developing brain, no matter where they play. Starting from newborns, Lovery provides kits so they can be entertained with high-contrast black-and-white images as they begin recognising objects. As they grow, move to the play kits featuring textiles and interesting photos and books for small hands to help pass some time away. Restless toddlers have plenty of things to keep busy hands occupied from The Companion Play Kit, a hands-down favourite item to travel with including threading beads sharpening their concentration and focus and enriching their fine motor skills, to non-toxic paintsticks and colour-coordinated pockets in the Anywhere Art Kit for the artists.  Our favourite part? Lovery has now introduced the Book Bundles, delivering the right stories for every stage supporting some of the big moments in your child’s early years, like going to the dentist, potty training, and the challenge of sharing with a sibling.
