What The CF Team Are Loving This September

We may be back to work, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to end.

Welcome to the Citizen Femme team’s list of things and places to eat, stay, buy, watch and try this September. This is the ultimate inspiration to see you into the new month.

BUY I’m really into ceramics at the moment and I love Emma Louise Payne; the plates, especially, from the London Plane collection come in muted earthy tones and exude so much character. USE The Ombré Blush from & Other Stories, a light-weight cream blush with a natural-looking tint, a great handbag quick fix as the September season kicks off. TRY The dark hot chocolate from Knoops, you will be transformed. Head over to one of their stores (pop into the latest opening on Portobello Road, Notting Hill) or make your own at home and cosy up on the sofa. WEAR The double-breasted navy suit jacket from Sezane, easy to throw on, smart, and an ideal transitional Autumn piece for my wardrobe. STAY For a weekend getaway at Chewton Glen. It’s long been one of my favourite UK properties and I’m looking forward to revisiting with two children in tow.

STAY I’m visiting luxury boutique hotel Wild Thyme & Honey in the heart of the Cotswolds at the end of the month for their sensational SUMMER SUNDOWN event in collaboration with Cotswolds Distillery. Tickets are still available to buy, and you can expect a cocktail-making masterclass, a feasting dinner and live music. A great way to see in the new season. BUY I’m in autumn fashion mode and this cropped leather jacket from COS is on my wishlist, permitting it comes back in stock. I’ll wear it with indigo denim and ballet flats. EAT West London’s ultimate neighbourhood hangout The Hawk’s Nest has reopened its doors. I’ll be enjoying epic pizza and cocktails under its retractable glass roof. TRY Lark & Berry’s piercing studio in Marylebone. The fine jewellery brand uses lab-grown diamonds only. Who doesn’t love a curated ear stack? STAY I’m excited to revisit Japan this September. My last trip there was 17 years ago and I still remember the delicious food. I’ll be staying with a friend in Tokyo, as well as at W Osaka and JW Marriott Nara. BUY I’ve been inspired by our fashion editor’s suggestions for cheap but comfortable clothes to travel in, specifically by the My Cashmere cardigan and trousers set. READ I’ve just finished Cleopatra and Frankenstein by Coco Mellors so am looking for my next book… TRY Some new skincare, starting with Tropicology’s avocado face wash and revitalising serum. EAT I’m a big bagel fan so am excited that It’s Bagels will be opening in Primrose Hill on 11 September serving up New York-style favourites, including varieties ranging from cinnamon to sesame, garlic to plain.

STAY Oxfordshire’s latest hotspot, Estelle Manor, looks like a beautiful rural retreat to cosy up in as the nights draw in, with opulent interiors and whimsical art. EAT Time to try out the spider crab omelette and roasted peach sorbet at restaurant of the moment, Mountain, in Soho. BUY I’m prepping for autumnal dinner parties by snapping up these super cool hand-painted linen napkins by Polkra x Jess Wheeler, designed to bring joy to any occasion. WATCH The new season of The Great British Bake Off will be back on our screens soon – this time with new presenter Alison Hammond joining Noel Fielding in the tent. BEAUTY Nobu Hotel London Portman Square has just launched a Brilliant Signature Facial with Noble Panacea that blends LED light therapy and stimulating massage techniques.

STAY In the City of Lights, as Paris looks particularly beautiful in the early autumn light. For those looking to soak up the atmosphere in the run up to Paris Fashion Week, you’ll find the fashion sect at Hôtel Plaza Athénée, while art and culture lovers should book into Le Meurice. BUY A pair of cream wide legged trousers from COS (and probably the matching blazer too). I’m known for not really owning trousers, but this season the styles have me totally sold. WATCH Rebecca at the Charing Cross Theatre. I’ve been captivated by my namesake’s tale since I was a child, and the songs are said to be beautiful in this interpretation. DRINK Too many Coconut Matcha Lattes. I fell in love with the ones at Alila Kothaifaru in the Maldives on my recent travels, and just hope London’s independent coffee shops can measure up. LISTEN To Scamanda – a podcast series on Spotify about the influencer who defrauded her followers by faking a cancer diagnosis. If you were hooked on Serial, you won’t be able to stop listening to this.

BUY A back to work wardrobe is firmly in my sights, but I got distracted by this Prada miniskirt with organza overlay. EAT I want to cosy down for warming dinners, one of my favourite places is Wild Corner on Chelsea Green. Beautiful wine and wonderful small plates for sharing an intimate candlelit dinner. TRY I discovered RHODE after all the hype and am actually really loving their glazing milk. It’s lightweight but so nourishing. ENJOY When I am not in the office I have been using the working member’s club Pavilion Knightsbridge; a super-chic working environment, great for nestling in and doing emails or holding meetings.

STAY My husband is South African and my boys are all rugby mad, so we are off to Marseille to cheer on the SA team in the Rugby World Cup. I’m looking forward to seeing the city too. USE To keep that summer glow a little bit longer I use Chanel’s Les Beiges cream bronzerWEAR Autumn is my favourite time of year and I love the new season feel of September. I’ll be living in my Sezane Brut Sexy jeans (a great length if you are tall like me), shirts from With Nothing Underneath, and the Nico cardigan from Alex Mill: all perfect transitional pieces. VISIT I can’t wait to see the new Chanel Exhibition Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto at the V&A. EAT Italian is always my go-to so I’m looking forward to dinner with friends at Lina Stores in Coal Drops Yard and Jacuzzi in South Kensington this September.

EAT Stork has quickly become one of my favourite dining spots in London. Located right in the heart of Mayfair, it serves up the most innovative and culturally rich Modern Pan-African cuisine. The flavours are simply exquisite, and the presentation of each dish is like a work of art. WATCH I’m a big fan of Top Boy, so the news of Season 5’s release on 7 September has me counting down the days. I can’t wait to dive back into the show and see what twists and turns await the final season. BUY While I’m savouring the remaining days of summer, I’m also thinking ahead to autumn fashion. One item that’s captured my attention is the TOTEME Striped wool-blend turtleneck sweater. It’s the perfect transitional piece, and I can already picture myself styling it with denim and ballet flats for those crisp autumn days. READ On my reading list for this month, I have Learned by Heart by Emma Donoghue and Happiness Falls by Angie Kim.
