This Week CF Loves: 11.09.23

Now dis-loyalty is a thing. In the name of exploration, this membership is one to sign up to.

From planning date nights (the late night spot to book), to cultural highlights (this season’s must watch), to planning ahead for your ski getaway (your transport sorted), this week’s Citizen Femme hotlist has it all.

EAT HERE Geode Restaurant & Bar

New late-night cocktail bar and restaurant that promises to transform your London nights opens in a Georgian townhouse this week, on September 14th. Led by Salvatore Broccu and Marios Louvaris (ex- Novikov Group), it promises theatrical dining as guests arrive through a copper door, before arriving at a sleek sculptural cocktail bar. Upstairs, you’ll find a split-level mezzanine with an open-plan kitchen set in an elegant conservatory, where diners can watch the chefs sizzling up dishes across a robata grill, rotisserie station and pizza oven, alongside a further a late-night dining area. Cocktails will be a highlight, with gem-inspired tipples like the Ruby Negroni made with strawberry infused mezcal and saffron vermouth; and a Topaz Martini featuring Grey Goose, fig liqueur and lavender syrup.

WATCH THIS The Father and the Assassin, National Theatre

The tale of Mahatma Gandhi is a heavy one. It splits opinions to say the least. His campaign for Indian independence inspired countless political movements. In this masterful piece of writing by playwright Anupama Chandrasekhar, expertly directed by Indhu Rubasingham, discover more about Nathuram Godse, the man who murdered Mahatma Gandhi in National Theatre’s revival of The Father and the Assassin.  Rather than focusing on Gandhi’s actions, The Father and the Assassin centres on Nathuram Godse’s upbringing and adult life, as we meet him as a child who supports his family by channelling the goddess as a village fortune teller. An exhilarating presentation of such bold political history told by a cast of 19 actors commanding the National Theatre’s largest stage, The Olivier. This is, without a doubt, this season’s must watch.

USE THIS Susanne Kaufman x Byredo

Celebrating the sensorial connection between skincare and fragrance, Byredo partners with natural beauty pioneer Susanne Kaufmann to launch a limited-edition collection of products in a conscious collaboration, available from 14th September. Susanne Kaufmann’s expertise in efficacious skincare powered by nature’s plants meets Ben Gorham’s knowledge of the transportive might of fragrance, has resulted in a deeply moisturising scented body oil and a roll-on fragrance oil, inspired by Susanne Kaufmann’s home in Bregenzerwald. The Body Oil is developed with antioxidant rich oils from apricot kernel and meadowfoam seed, moisturising dry skin to reveal a long-lasting healthy glow. Apply after showering or bathing to damp skin and massage in. The Fragrance Oil is the on-the-go oil with skincare benefits. Apply to the pulse points and desired areas of the body to envelop yourself in a scent of earthy greenness and sense the wild yet calming openness of Alpine nature.

BOOK THIS Eurostar snow train

Tickets for Eurostar Snow — the new name for the service that shuttles skiers between London and various French resorts — are now on sale. Running every Saturday between 16 December 2023-4 February 2024, the service involves a Eurostar train between London and Lille; then a second, newly-branded, Eurostar Snow train between Lille, and the ski resorts at Chambéry, Albertville, Moutiers, Aime-La Plagne and Bourg-Saint-Maurice. While its an 8-hour train journey (with a change in Lille), this service aims to provide an alternative to flying for British skiers and snowboarders in an eco-friendly manner, especially with the increase in desire for train travel.
