This Week CF Loves: 27.11.23

Metallics for your wardrobe and wine that helps your sustainability goals, that’s what we have going on this week.

A little brioche con gelato, and lessons on the art of creating your own festive swag, fill in your week’s to-do list with these activities in this week’s Citizen Femme hotlist. It will get you in a very good mood, we promise.

DO THIS Tavola by Skye McAlpine

From 30th November through to 17th December, Tavola by Skye McAlpine invites you to experience the magic of the holiday season at their exquisite pop-up shop on William Street in Knightsbridge with a series of workshops including Christmas cake decorating, the art of creating your own festive swag, and festive menu planning and table decoration. In addition to all of Tavola’s signature tableware, a curated selection of vintage pieces, personally sourced by Skye, will be available for purchase, alongside essential Christmas items such as crackers and Italian Pantone, and bespoke stationery, courtesy of Memo Press. For the full experience, Skye’s own baked cakes will be available daily along with warming hot chocolate. Book into one of the workshops for a must-do Christmas activity.

DRINK THIS Wasted Wine Club

Christmas is often wildly indulgent and sustainability can be one of the last things we think about. Add to this the laughable declaration from France earlier this year, that they plan to destroy more than 300 million litres of wine, costing them $216 million. With this in mind, Angelo van Dyk founded Wasted Wine Club. This clever company collaborates with global independent winemakers who have excess wine in their cellars, to create once-off, custom bottlings that are sold direct to consumers in the U.K. But these are not just the dregs of barrels that no one wants. The Wasted Wine Club bottlings are high quality, tasted, considered and carefully curated before being selected for bottling, with four wines currently available from the first two collaborations. Drinking wine to help minimise the industry’s wastage? A very merry sustainable Christmas indeed.

USE THIS Dr Hauschka

Transitioning your wardrobe to winter is one routine we may undertake, but its important we don’t neglect our skincare transition (as our beauty editor will be thrilled to hear). The coldest time of the year needs us to swaddle in luxe sweaters and scarves, balms and creams. Dr Hauschka is one brand we guarantee will cocoon you from the harsher conditions. The cult favourite is the Rose Day Cream, and for good reason. A protective winter essential with a rich, luxurious formulation that protects and glows simultaneously. This is  one product that is suitable for all ages and makes you feel like you are really taking good care of your face. And for lips in need of a little extra care this winter, the brand’s Lip Balm is rich in texture, soothing and repairing dry, cracked lips as well as providing extra protection against cold temperatures.

ENJOY THIS Gelupo, Soho

You don’t need to wait for your trip to the Alps for the après-ski experience. London offers plenty of experiences. First stop? Soho gelateria Gelupo. This hotspot isn’t just for summer with its exquisite selection of gelato. Transforming into an Italian Alps ski lodge with fur rugs and twinkly lights, Gelupo is now serving up hot drinks with Frangelico and amaretto, or a Bombardino, made with home-made zabaione mixed with brandy, and topped with whipped cream and cinnamon, all accompanied by a homemade fennel biscotto. There are also Italian doughnuts and scoops of their famous ice cream, including caramel and gingerbread, chocolate orange and panettone with marsala, served ‘chocolate affogato’ style. And if that isn’t enough, hot toasted ‘brioche con gelato’ with scoops sealed in a soft Sicilian brioche bun.

WEAR THIS The silver trousers

The silver age is back, and while metallics were spotted on the runway as early as last spring, silver has dominated. Tom Ford to Isabel Marant have been claiming the wearable liquid metal look, but we have our own favourite from Jigsaw. Yes the high street is winning with this festive trend. Crafted from silver Nappa leather, the Regent is high-waisted with a classic straighter leg shape and stitching details to add a sharpness to the trouser. For a date-night or a cool Christmas party, paired with an oversized knit or classic white shirt, or low-key sambas and a throw over jacket for the day, your December look is complete with this season’s most coveted piece.
