What Our Fashion Editor Is Loving This January

It’s time to plan your sartorial calendar, aided by Citizen Femme’s January 2024 fashion round-up.

Featuring forever jewellery pieces, cool winter outerwear and athleisure heroes, our fashion editor’s picks will see you into the new year in style.

THE BRACELETS

An icon in fine jewellery inspired by the quilted motif, an emblem of the House since 1955, CHANEL's latest Coco Crush creations extend to new mini bracelets in yellow, white or beige gold, with or without diamonds, and feature an exclusive, rotating and invisible twist clasp that closes with a simple turn. A minimal yet elegant addition to your new year jewellery collection.

THE SHEARLING JACKET

As the weather inevitably gets colder, it's the perfect time to invest in a shearling jacket. This mocha brown wear-anywhere style from Los Angeles-based premium denim brand Citizens of Humanity is firmly on my wishlist and will make the perfect pairing with jeans and off-duty essentials alike. You can count on a shearling coat to always retain its durability – and style – status.

THE BACK TO WORK BAG

This year was about finding a multi-purpose bag for both work and travel, and this Saint Laurent capacious tote is perfect for the busy multifaceted lives of women. Fitting everything from your laptop to your gym kit, this dependable choice is an all time classic, crafted in Italy from soft quilted leather and featuring the house's gold-tone emblem. It comes with a detachable pouch for your small necessities too.

THE BLAZER

YOMI creative director Fanny Van de Wijngaert set out to create the perfect style-focused jacket during her career as a lawyer, feeling the absence of creativity within the industry. Deciding to embark on a fresh start for herself, her brand encompasses boldly formed outerwear that plays homage to nostalgic silhouettes. Structured blazers with amplified shoulder lines, enlived colours, artfully abstract finishing touches and rich textures will update your 2024 workwear wardrobe.

THE ALPINE COLLECTION

This London-based label is our go-to for laidback luxe, and Varley founder Lara Mead has a flair for making athleisure look polished. In time for ski season, the brand's Alpine collection brings elevated comfort to your next winter getaway, and will seamlessly transition into your everyday wardrobe post holiday.

THE SNEAKERS

After a year of Adidas Sambas reigning supreme, I predict the MEXICO 66 sneakers from Japanese brand Onitsuka Tiger will have a renaissance in 2024. This fashion-editor approved footwear has retro influences and a distinctive DNA, retaining its iconic appeal since its debut at the 1968 Mexico games. No curated athleisure wardrobe is complete without a pair and the birch/black colourway will be an unsung hero and true style staple. Comfort and style never looked better.

THE JEWELLERY

Swedish fashion brand TOTEME launched a new product category last year, complimenting its curated uniform for modern women with a jewellery collection reminisent of the brand's minimalist aesthetic. The debut collection, traced in 18kt gold, monochrome enamel and diamonds has since launched new additions to see you into the new year, with rings, bracelets and a gold choker the epitome of everyday essentials.

THE ATHLEISURE

Nothing beats Sporty & Rich's curated lifestyle aesthetic and this latest drop is inspired by iconic retro photos of people skiing, used to create sportswear and loungewear pieces that are essential for the cold season ahead. Puffer jackets and sherpa vests are amongst the usual drop of stylish tracksuits, and the new cashmere sets – perfect for outside or at home – will make January all the more cosy.
