The A-List Guide To Ibiza 2024

It’s that time of year again: Ibiza is calling. Whether you’re heading to the White Isle to imbibe the bohemian spirit or to embrace hedonism to the tune of Balearic beats, there’s something to suit every whim on this magnificent island.

A crop of new (and freshly refurbished) hotels mean ample choice for luxe lodging, be it a boutique spot or an indulgent retreat. You’ll also want to devote long, languid days to al fresco lunches and sun-dappled boat trips, as well as find the best spots to take in ombré skies with a sundowner.

In Ibiza, there are plenty of outstanding places to wine and dine – just make sure you bag a reservation as early as possible. But before you book anything, these are some of the island’s top hotels and hotspots to keep in mind, including the latest openings and legendary names.

WHERE TO STAY

FOR A LUXE RETREAT: SIX SENSES IBIZA

Since it opened in 2021, Six Senses’ Ibizan outpost has become the capital of the island’s haute hippie scene. Tucked away on a hillside in the blissed-out north with direct access to Cala Xarraca (one of Ibiza’s most beautiful bays), the hotel is a temple of chic wellness. It’s a place of sun salutations on private sea-facing decks, pottering around sleepy villages and cycling through pine-scented trails on e-bikes. The serene spa is rightfully raved about, while a more unexpected surprise comes in the form of The Farm, a 400-year-old olive press and agricultural estate, where guests can get involved in growing the abundant organic produce used in the divine food served at the hotel’s restaurants.

FOR A BOUTIQUE BOLTHOLE: HYDE IBIZA

Following a preview season in 2023, this bright young newcomer has opened for its first full summer in 2024. It’s located in a prime spot overlooking the glimmer of Cala Llonga Bay; views of the sea (or the greenery of the surrounding mountains) come as standard from the rooms. The best of these feature breezy balconies, but all soothe with pale wood and an air of quiet luxury – with a few local touches like low-hanging wicker lampshades and Balearic-inspired geometric motifs. Paired with neighbouring Mondrian, Hyde provides access to seven foodie spots with everything from paella to sparklingly fresh sashimi, a trio of pools, and ferry access to Ibiza Town and Formentera, Ibiza’s free-spirited little sister island. It’s also only a few minutes’ drive from many of the White Isle’s most famous super clubs, including Pacha and Ushuaïa.

FOR A PARTY PAD: W IBIZA

This year, W Ibiza has solidified its status as an island hotspot with a hotel-wide refresh and the opening of its own beach club, Yellow Fish by W Ibiza. The launch of SEU Pizza @STEPS is also creating a buzz, bringing what many consider to be Rome’s best pizza to the White Isle – served with a sea view for the perfect start to any evening out. These recent additions only add to the hotel’s reputation for all things young and fun; everything from the airy lobby to the awnings over the rooms’ floor-to-ceiling windows are a study in the boldly colourful and unashamedly playful. Though it’s located in the peaceful town of Santa Eulalia, the atmosphere is party-centric, with pools surrounded by cabanas and a resident DJ on the decks daily. It’s futile to resist getting in on the action.

WHERE TO PLAY

EL SILENCIO

The Ibizan outpost of the Parisian nightclub of the same name, El Silencio is the place to come for that most elusive of vibes: truly chilled-out. This near-mythical spot is part driftwood-clad chiringuito, part luxe, part exhibition space, and has a low-key restaurant. Expect whimsical installations, glistening oysters and oversized sunglasses.

PIKES

It’s one of the island’s best-known boutique hotels, but you don’t have to be staying to play at Pikes, which feels like something of a rite of passage in Ibiza. Come here for an eclectic mix of guests, many of whom make annual pilgrimages for the genre-spanning sets, culinary delights and devilish cocktails.

LÍO

For unashamed glitz, look to Lío’s famous immersive cabaret and dining experience, which begins this year with Dangerous Nights. Described as “transgressive, provocative, and outrageously fun,” it’s perfect for those who fancy dipping a toe into the realm of sparkler-topped bottles without committing to an all-night club.

WHERE TO EAT & DRINK

AMANTÉ & AIYANNA

Aiyanna

Booking is essential if you want to get a taste of Amante, the fine dining restaurant ensconced in scenic seclusion on Cala Sol d’en Serra Bay. Refined dishes have made this a magnet for a well-heeled crowd for years, but for more laidback luxe head to its sister restaurant Aiyanna in the north of the island. Here, salads and seasonal greens are plucked from the restaurant’s own gardens, and this season it will also host local artists and musicians, as well as pop-up food trucks.

ZUMA

If you’re after upscale Japanese and a similarly lofty location, Zuma is the crème de la crème. The who’s who of the island flock here for standout sushi, fresh sashimi and impeccable tempura, not to mention the slick service, brilliantly buzzy atmosphere and knockout views of Ibiza Old Town. Party lovers can book in for late night dining (it’s the Spanish way, after all) and good vibes are guaranteed.

JONDAL

The in-crowd’s favourite on the golden sands of Cala Jondal gets booked up months in advance, so book now or forever hold your peace. If you do manage to bag a table, prepare to be smitten with the sleekest toes-in-the-sand spot on the island. The seafood – and Instagrammable interiors – are exceptional.
