The Beauty Edit

What CF's Beauty Editor Is Shopping This August

With a host of new products passing across her desk each month, Citizen Femme’s beauty editor Becki Murray has tried and tested the very best August beauty launches to select those worth adding to your routine.

Whatever climate you might be jetting off to this month, highlights include Drunk Elephant’s new travel-friendly essentials kit, and Dior’s new dreamy lipstick set. These are the August beauty launches to buy this month.

THE TRAVEL SET

Do travel minis come more covetable than this set from Drunk Elephant? Filled with a full travel-friendly selection of day and night essentials to cleanse, exfoliate, hydrate, brighten, replenish and protect, this is the collection I'm bringing with me on my summer travels, to help rejuvenate my complexion in a flash.

THE SUMMER MOISTURISER

Water creams are one of this summer's biggest trends – and that's no surprise considering their clever use of water-based lightweight hydrators (rather than oil-based moisturisers) which means, when the weather heats up, you get all the hydration your skin needs, without a greasy finish. This new one from Soho Skin is especially good with its blend of hyaluronic acid and red seaweed.

THE LUXE LIPSTICK

If, like me, you've got a flurry of summer events and weddings coming up, this is the nude lipstick I'd have front and centre in your makeup routine. Dior always deliver in soft, long-lasting textures that define your lips, while giving you that all important confidence boost, and this extended nude collection means there really is a shade to complement all skin tones.

Dior’s new nude lipsticks are perfect for all your summer parties and events.

THE NEW FLORAL

Florals for summer might not seem immediately groundbreaking, but then again not every floral fragrance is powered by AI. That's exactly the case with Prada's latest jasmine-based fragrance, which has used the technology to create a fresh, green interpretation of the classic note. The result is a scent you can't help but want to smell again and again.

THE GUT SUPPLEMENT

Gut health has become a major focus within the health and wellness industry of late – and with good reason: as the second most complex neural network in the body, the gut is actually considered the 'second brain.' These are the vegan supplements I recommend to help look after yours. The blend of prebiotics, turmeric, ginger, kiwi extract and reishi mushroom has just been reformulated to reduce bloating even faster.

THE EYE SOOTHER

I'm never without an under-eye patch when I'm travelling, as I always get such puffy, tired-looking eyes without a full night's sleep. These, from ESPA, are like a spa visit in a pot, with the instantly cooling and hydrating gels enriched with snow mushroom and red algae.

These eye patches are a travel essential at this time of year.

THE MASCARA

Proof you don't have to break the bank to find a really good mascara. With its inky black formula, and a bristled-brush shape that reaches every single hair, Rimmel London's Thrill Seeker is everything a volumising mascara should be – fast and effective.

THE NIGHT CREAM

Skincare doesn't come more indulgent than this lifting cream from Natura Bisse, which I'd recommend using at nighttime due to its cosseting, rich texture. Deeply moisturising in order to plump and firm your skin, it contains collagen and red algae to lock in hydration so that dehydration lines and crepeiness can quickly be a thing of the past.

Natura Bisse’s indulgent cream is a hydrating reset for skin that struggles with dehydration lines.

THE HAIR SPRITZ

From tackling frizz to boosting shine, this multitasking oil is perfect for styling your hair on summer evenings and for reviving it after a day at the beach. Suitable for all hair types, the combination of rich oils help protect your colour from fading in the sun, as well as making your strands swishable soft for hours and hours.

THE SUPER HYDRATOR

Like a drink of water for thirsty complexions, RéVive’s hydrogel moisturiser floods your skin with hydration. First, it draws water into your skin with the inclusion of hyaluronic acid. Then, a combination of peptides, red algae and yeast extract support your skin barrier to keep it there.
