Summer may have come to an end but the Citizen Femme team’s calendar is filled with exciting things to do this September.
Including places to eat and stay, plus things to buy, watch and try – this is the ultimate inspiration to see you through the month.

STAY At home, after lots of sun this August. I’m looking forward to trying a bunch of new restaurants including Lita in Marylebone, the new brunch at Berners Tavern, and one of my favourites Trishna. VISIT RH (formely Restoration Hardware) which has opened at the historic Aynho Park. I love their stores in Palm Beach, Florida and New York so I’m excited to take a day trip here. The furniture is great – you’ll want to buy a lot! – but it’s also an opportunity to take in the exhibition about Sir John Soane, and to eat at The Orangery. TRY The Spa at Mandarin Oriental in Mayfair. I really want to try an indulgent couples massage for some well-deserved timeout. BUY This FRAME sailor cropped cotton-blend cardigan that I’ve had my eye on – it’s finally back in stock, so is set to be my regular sweater for this season. And I adore these Chloé Marcie leather flats, which I’ll throw on with it alongside jeans. WATCH The Perfect Couple on Netflix, a Nantucket-set whodunit starring Kidman as an uber-successful novelist whose family may be involved in a shocking death just before her son’s wedding.

STAY At the beautiful One&Only Portonovi in Montenegro for a babymoon. My partner and I are trying to make the most of the last few months just the two of us, before we become four! EAT At Bubala (again). I visited recently with a girlfriend and I can’t stop thinking about every dish. This vegan/vegetarian Middle Eastern-inspired restaurant has such amazing flavours – I’ll be back to try the rest of the menu ASAP. BUY Le Monde Beryl’s woven ballet pumps in maroon. Ballet pumps are going nowhere for the new season, and this autumnal pair will go with everything – from indigo denim to office tailoring. WATCH I love the start of the new season because it means new thriller series are about to begin! Playing Nice is a new ITV psychological thriller with James Norton and Niamh Algar and is set to be released before the end of the year. TRY I’ve started using the Mama Mio Tummy Rub Oil for my pregnant belly and it’s become such a staple in my nighttime routine. The smell is heavenly thanks to the blend of natural oils, and I’ve read great reviews about it preventing stretch marks. I can’t wait to try the whole range out.

WELCOME SEPTEMBER With a few nights at the stunning, ten-suite hotel YFES Kythnos. It opened this summer and is built into the cliffs surrounding Flambouria Bay on the Greek island of Kythnos. A place to truly escape the summer crowds. VISIT Marrakech for the first time in 14 years(!). Hotels here span everything from big-names, such as Mandarin Oriental and Amanjena, to smaller boutique accommodation inside traditional riads. I’ve booked IZZA Marrakech for my last night in the city and am so excited to browse its £5 million art collection. SCROLL Through London Design Festival round ups and social media posts. I’m not able to attend this year but plan to browse from afar, with a particular focus on the “Legacy of Tomorrow” show (20-22 September) and Yinka Ilori’s pop-up shop (14-22 September). BUY Homeware from Sidi Ghanem, a thriving industrial zone and design district on the outskirts of Marrakech. RELAX In the stunning, pink marble hammam at La Sultana. I’ve booked it for the end of my trip to Morocco, in an effort to end the week feeling refreshed.

STAY At Chateau du Palanquey surrounded by the vineyards near Saint-Émilion, where I’ll be travelling for a wedding at the end of the month. BUY A pair of Alexander McQueen white trainers – in my opinion the perfect autumn transitional shoe. TRY To play golf at Aphrodite Hills’ PGA golf course in Cyprus. Failing that I’ll caddy or (best case) relax at the spa with a Greek Heritage massage. ENJOY The new upgraded Dyson Airwrap ID – it makes curling my hair in seconds even easier with smart in-app controls. I’m obsessed. PROTECT My skin and hair post-summer with our guides to extending your tan and hair maintenance. I plan to maintain my glow from head-to-toe throughout September.

STAY At the wonderful Balmoral, an iconic hotel in the Scottish capital. Autumn is my favourite season and I can’t wait to get back up to Scotland with my family soon. We’ll also stop off in the Highlands. EAT At the newly reopened Julie’s in Holland Park for dinner with friends. Having spent a lovely summer on the beach in Devon, I’m ready for some glam nights out in London. SEE The new exhibition Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers at the National Gallery. I have tickets for the very first day. WATCH The new season of Slow Horses, which airs this month on Apple TV. It’s a fantastic – and very funny – spy drama starring Gary Oldman and Jack Lowden. Just the thing for nights in. WEAR Suede is a big thing this season, so I’ll be wearing this gorgeous jacket from Veronica Beard. Perfect for layering on chillier autumn days.

EAT At Jacuzzi, a gorgeous Italian spot in West London. Think delicious pasta, dreamy decor, and a buzzing atmosphere – ideal for a date night. VISIT Los Mochis because I’ve been dreaming of their tacos! Their fusion of Mexican and Japanese flavours is delicious, and the cocktails on their terrace with a stunning view of London? Yes, please. TRY I’m obsessed with bubble tea, and CUPP is my go-to in London. They’ve got spots all over the city, and their Brown Sugar Premium is everything. WATCH Part two of Emily in Paris (Season 4). As the nights get longer and cosier, I’m ready to dive into some serious TV. BUY A new oversized leather jacket: this from Norma Kamali, has caught my eye. I’m already picturing it paired with everything in my closet. SEE I recently saw Witness for the Prosecution at London County Hall. The venue is stunning, the story is gripping, and if you fancy it, you can even be part of the show as the jury.

SHOP RIXO‘s new autumn/winter collection. My wardrobe is largely minimalist but I can’t resist the brand’s vintage-inspired patterns and styles. I have my eye on the Denver Jacket after watching flamenco at Sadler’s Wells earlier this year and obsessing over the dancer’s costumes. READ The Woman Who Thinks Too Much by Susan Nolen-Hoeksema. The book was published in 2003 and (after stumbling across it on Instagram over ten years later) it feels like an apt time to start reading it, as life starts getting busier again in September. I’ve heard it’s packed with useful tools on how to manage overthinking. BUY Tickets to see MADDADDAM at The Royal Ballet this November. It’s the European premier of this ballet by Wayne McGregor, adapted from Margaret Atwood’s best-selling feminist novels. TRAVEL To Tuscany later this month where I’ll re-visit Florence, Pisa, and Lucca. It’s a beautiful time of the year to go; the summer crowds have scattered but the Tuscan sun remains. LOOK FORWARD To London Fashion Week – both the calendar events and the pop-ups that take place across the city. There’s lots to see and everyone is out: London truly comes alive.

STAY At the gorgeous Flemings Mayfair, dining at its Michelin-starred restaurant Ormer Mayfair. Chef Sofian Msetfi’s seven-course tasting menu is incredible; I dream of the native lobster. EAT At the Michelin-starred UMU Mayfair, I visited recently with a friend and was blown away by their authentic Kyoto Kaiseki menu. The wild cornish lobster tempura and the langoustine Umu-mae sushi was to die for. TRY D’Cocina in Holloway – I always champion Filipino cuisine, and I’m looking forward to trying the all-day buffet, available on Sundays and serving Filipino classics such as lechon kawali, sizzling sisig, chicken adobo, bistek tagalog and halo-halo for dessert. WATCH The new season of Selling Sunset, which will be on Netflix from 6 September. VISIT The Gardening Club in Crewes Hill with my mum. I’ve recently re-done my garden, so I often find myself skipping down the flower aisles with my trolley, searching for my favourite flowers (hydrangea and foxgloves). They also do a mean Victoria Sponge in the garden cafe.

USE Bric’s suitcases – I’ve been travelling with them all summer long; they’ve taken me to Italy, Antigua and Dorset. The soft suede-like material is super chic, but also helps you squish so much in. VISIT The new-look opening of Tramp Member’s Club in Mayfair, following its new management and beautiful refurb by Campbell-Rey. BUY This baguette clutch from Marina Raphael to answer all party-wear needs when the festive season approaches. WEAR Leset stirrup leggings, they will go with everything in my autumn/winter wardrobe, from knitwear to blouses. I have my eyes on this Tuxedo Coat to go with them too – I love the oversized proportions of it.
