Every season comes with an abundance of new trends, but how many of them are actually wearable? CF’s fashion editor, Gemma Louise Deeks, decodes this seasons autumn/winter trends.
From rich autumnal shades and bold animal print to chic tailoring and double denim, these are the fashion trends for autumn/winter 2024 we will actually be shopping – and the pieces we are buying now.
1. Chocolate Tones
If there’s one colour you need to embrace this season, it’s chocolate brown. Colour-shy minimalists, swap out your trusty black for this rich – and expensive looking – shade, and let it make its way into your wardrobe through knitwear, bags and shoes. Bonus points if it’s suede – another hot texture trend.

2. Shades Of Fall
It wouldn’t be autumn without an abundance of warm colours, and catwalks were awash with burgundy and khaki this season. Wear them together for a tonal outfit that looks both cosy and luxurious, or go head-to-toe in red-wine coloured garments with gold jewellery for an elevated evening look.
3. Wild Things
It may be loud, but there are ways to dip your toe into the leopard print without going all out. Choose just one piece, like an accessory, to update a minimalist outfit, or pair a bold animal print blouse or jacket with streamlined denim – making a subtle statement is the way to do this print right.
4. Corporate Core
The workwear trend dominated across all fashion capitals; chic tailoring that can be worn both in the boardroom and at the bar is the grown-up way of dressing for the new season. Back-to-business inspired looks have never been cooler and corporate suiting is here to stay – just look to The Row’s subtle Savile Row fits.
5. Double Denim
There’s a double denim duo to suit any occasion, from relaxed at the weekend to a more formal evening affair. It’s likely your wardrobe is already brimming with denim, just choose the same denim wash and be clever with proportions – high-rise, 70s style jeans look best with a cropped jacket, and break up the harmony of an oversized shirt tucked into straight leg jeans with a studded belt.
