Your 2025 Beauty Trend Report

Fashion Month has come to an end and the runways from London, Paris, Milan, and New York have left us not only with some extreme outfit envy – it’s ushered in a whole new beauty trends index too.

With an influence over the hairstyles, makeup looks, and manicures that we are likely to be favouring for the rest of the year (and beyond), these are our favourite new beauty trends, including the big glossy blowout, sporty skin, and statement nails.

Sporty Skin

Peter Philips’ makeup looks at the Dior show never fail to influence the beauty mood each season, and if the leading makeup artist has anything to say about it we’ll all be swapping a ‘lit-from-within’ radiance for a ‘post-workout glow’ very soon. What’s the difference you ask? It’s more laid back with the dewiness achieved without the need for a highlighter. In fact, the idea is to reach for any glossy product you can get your hands on. At Dior, that was a dab of Dior’s Capture Totale Le Sérum over the top of a lightly radiant foundation. A similar glow was seen at Jason Wu courtesy of a new Mac nude lipstick that was applied across the skin as well as the lips. Even the ‘ethereal skin’ at Patrick McDowell left room for natural-looking ‘imperfection’, by encouraging some natural high-shine around the cheeks and nose; the sort you get when active and on the move.

The flicked-out bob

The FROW were onto this trend before it even walked its way down the runway, with Victoria Beckham, Kendall Jenner and other fashion insiders already cutting their hair into long bobs or ‘lobs’ in recent weeks. As they sat on the front row, models mirrored the style, showcasing shorter looks at Harris Reed (where the hair was worn super sleek) and Versace (where centre-partings reigned supreme), to name just two. They all had one particular other feature in common too – outward flicks. This styling choice instantly adds movement and volume to your hair (perfect for strutting down a runway, or just the street), and, in good news, it can be easily recreated. Simply use your straightener just on the ends of your hair, moving the iron away from your head as you pass it down so that it curves out at the ends. For more body and texture at the root, you’ll want to invest in a lightweight thickening and volume spray. Aveda and Redken do some of the best.

Juicy lips

If New York Fashion Week is anything to go by, there’s only one way to be wearing our lip colours this season, and it means keeping your humble matte lipstick firmly in your drawer. Dubbed ‘lollipop lips’ or ‘honey pouts’, the juicy lip trend is all about super glossiness, and it was spotted at Ulla Johnson, Carolina Herrera, Simkhai and Tibi in a rainbow of tints and hues. Most importantly, this isn’t about inch-perfect definition, so skip your sculpting lip liner too. Instead, mirror the soft, diffused Korean lipstick application technique that focuses on applying most of the colour in the centre of the lip and softly blurring it out to the edge. (The aim is that you look like you’ve just eaten a red ice lolly). Then, add extra shine for a really hydrated-looking finish. Try a soft tint, such as those from Rare Beauty or Victoria Beckham, with a gloss like Hourglass’ Unreal High Shine layered over the top.

Wellness as skincare

Backstage at Fashion Month is normally a very hectic affair with models rushing to get ready, hairdryers blasting and people shouting instructions to keep everything on time. However, this season there was a notable shift – at least by the time the models were sat in the makeup chair. Makeup artists know better than anyone that good skincare prep is the key to great makeup application, providing a radiant glow that no highlighter can fake. And, this year, not only did considered skincare application take centre stage, but the rituals of prepping the skin were deliberately turned into acts of self care. At Erdem there were even cryotherapy machines on hand to boost oxygen flow in the model’s skin, alongside multi-masking rituals courtesy of 111Skin. Lymphatic drainage massages by Orveda were available to pamper the models at Tove too, and at Jenn Lee’s presentation, the models had acupuncture needles pinned into their faces backstage. If you needed any excuse to turn your skincare routine into a wellness ritual, SS25 is it.

Big blowouts

Take this as your sign to immediately book into the salon for a blow-dry. Big, glossy hair is going to be big business this season, if being seen across the Fashion Month catwalks, especially in London, is anything to go by. Our favourite look was from 16 Arlington where the hairstylist Sam McKnight took inspiration from Brazilian supermodels like Gisele Bündchen when creating the show’s ‘sexy bombshell blowouts’. With the help of side partings and loose waves (focused on the mid-lengths and ends), the movement was achieved using a classic but a sometimes overlooked hair tool – rollers – plus lots of McKnight’s blow-dry prep products to keep the style in place. It was a similar story at Ralph Lauren, where the models always have super shiny tresses. Don’t worry though, you can fake it with a hefty amount of shine spray and using a nourishing hair mask before your next event. Or, for anyone who prefers a more laissez-faire approach, look to Feben. Here, natural textures were embraced and slightly enhanced for less extreme volume, but still the same amount of healthy-looking sheen – perfect for contrasting the harsher, dull weather of late.

Talking point nails

Manicures tend to go one of two ways at Fashion Month – there’s either barely there nudes or statement nails a plenty. This season it was certainly the latter, providing plenty of inspiration for your next visit to the nail bar, as our mani-pedis embrace a ‘look at me’ energy. 3D nail art is especially on trend, with studs at Chopova Lowena dreamed up by Ella Vivii and floral embellishments by Ama Quashie at Nensi Dojaka ensuring that texture is the word to know in SS25. For a beginner-friendly approach, look to nail stickers and wraps with chunky glitter detailing – although the best nail artists can help you get super creative while not rendering your hands unusable. Colour-wise, nails have also gone to the dark side, with classic inky maroons at Alexander McQueen, deep ombré nails at Naeem Khan and – a personal favourite – black French tips at Di Petsa. They might be deeper in colour but they will still be sure to draw the attention with creative designs and often high shine glossy finishes to always catch the light.

 The eyes have it

The eyes really are the windows to the soul for SS25, so get your mascaras, eyeshadows and eyeliners at the ready. Lashes in particular are longer and more defined than ever (which is great for revitalising tired-looking eyes), with standout doll-like lengths at Harris Reed and Bottega Veneta designed by the teams at Charlotte Tilbury and Pat McGrath. To avoid clumping, you want to look for a narrow mascara wand and an inky black formula to fan out every lash easily with each additional layer. There was plenty of creativity with eyeliner too, including the graphic hearts placed at the tear duct by Coach to offer a playful amount of inspiration for your next party, and Loewe’s statement silver wings that could easily be pared down for an off-the-catwalk take on the trend. Or, for the easiest approach – simply get practicing your graphic cat eye-flicks. They were everywhere on the runway, and in even better news, you can make them as thick and bold or thin and subtle as you wish. Both will have you firmly Fashion Month approved.
