The Beauty Edit

What CF's Beauty Editor Is Shopping This October

Selecting her tried-and-tested favourites from the host of new products passing across her desk each month, Citizen Femme’s beauty editor Becki Murray rounds up the very best October beauty launches across makeup, fragrance and skincare.

This month, the worlds of beauty and fashion are colliding. From the new Refy lip collection that made its debut at Fashion Month to the inaugural fragrance line from Nobody’s Child, there are a host of exciting beauty essentials to help you upgrade your beauty routine.

Intrigued? Read on to discover the best October beauty launches.

THE PAMPERING FOOTCARE

We might be swapping our sandals for boots right now, but our love affair with Birkenstocks is likely to extend straight into winter this year. That's because the footwear brand has just launched a pampering collection of products to keep your feet smooth, soft and hydrated – and its like a spa day for your toes. My top pick: the relaxing bath salts to leave heavy, sore legs and feet a thing of the past.

THE DREAMY DIFFUSER

Nobody's Child is on a mission to become more than just a clothing brand, with the launch of a full home and fragrance collection – and we're so glad they've made that decision. Inspired by the beauty and aromas of Greece, all the products are pure escapism bottled, with fresh citrusy scents in the form of perfumes, candles and diffusers, which you'll struggle to choose between. This diffuser is a personal favourite.

THE FASHION-FORWARD LIP COLOUR

This pop of plummy colour was spotted on the lips of many fashion insiders pre-launch at Fashion Week and garnered tons of excitement. I can see why. The deep shade is very on-trend and highly pigmented (it applies in a single swipe), with a glossy, naturally ombre effect on your lips. I expect a sell-out.

Get your hands on the lip colour that graced the lips of fashion’s front row this season.

THE GROUNDING FRAGRANCE

This is quickly becoming the scent I reach for before big events – it's as warming for your mind as it is on the skin. I shouldn't be surprised at its effect though. Vyrao's founder Yasmin Sewell has made it her mission to boost your mood through fragrance, and works with the IFF's Science of Wellbeing programme to tap into the healing power of plants. This scent is all about feeling grounded, with multiple spice-based notes such as pepper, saffron and cardamom.

THE NOURISHING CREAM

The latest addition to Chantecaille's ultra-luxury Gold Collection is quite simply a gorgeous hug for your skin. Enriched with ceramides (that help lock-in moisture and support your skin barrier), the formula firms, plumps and brightens with soothing botanicals, marine extracts and peptides to keep your skin looking its glossy best.

THE HAIR TECH

Foreo has long been my go-to for facial cleansing, with tech-driven devices that I trust to clean, massage and brighten my skin in a flash, including when I travel. Now the innovative brand has launched into haircare with a red light therapy-based tool that massages your scalp, removing build-up and improving microcirculation to stimulate healthy hair growth. A bonus benefit? It's also a super relaxing experience.

Foreo’s red light therapy device – an exciting new innovation – helps stimulate healthy hair growth.

THE HAND LOTION

I love a practical yet joy-inspiring product and this one from Joonbyrd has skyrocketed to the top of my list. Packed with ceramides, hyaluronic acid, amino acids and niacinamide blended with botanical extracts and prebiotic inulin, it's intensely moisturising, yet also actually enjoyable to apply. I predict everyone in your household will start stealing it.

THE PEEL

The aesthetic doctor Dr David Jack is the king of glowing skin and his clinics are a beauty editor favourite for all kinds of radiance-boosting treatments. Now, he's helping you get that glow at home with this potent weekly mask that uses hero brighteners vitamin C, kojic acid, retinal and mandelic acid to help slough off dark spots and uneven skin texture.

Consider this weekly brightening mask as the closest thing to having a leading aesthetic doctor on call at home.

THE SKIN BOOST

Jones Road, the makeup brand from leading makeup artist Bobbi Brown, has launched a new shade of its best-selling miracle balm, and it's just the lift your tired, weather-worn skin needs right now. The pinky bronze shade works on all skin tones (trust us, they tested it) and it can be swiped across eyes, cheeks and lips to add a healthy, slightly shimmery shine that instantly awakens your complexion.

THE TRAVEL CANDLES

With Assouline's expanded Travel From Home Candle Collection, I already feel like I've escaped the UK for some winter sun. The three new scents – St Tropez Soleil, Miami Beach, and Tuscany Marvel – will fill your home with fresh and sunny aromas, and illustrated motifs on the ceramic vessels give a knowing nod to each locale. In need of a good gift for a friend? Make it one of these.

Escape for some winter sun without leaving your living room with Assouline’s extended candle collection.

THE WARMING AROMA

One of the things I love most about the colder weather coming in is that it brings the best out of warm, gourmand aromas like this new oud perfume from Edeniste. With a blend of black cherry accord, leather, embers and musks, it's a fragrance that's like lighting a wood fire for the first time this season. It will have people moving that little bit closer to you to find out what you are wearing too.

THE LIMITED EDITION LIP

Stop chapped lips before they start come the winter with another brilliant lip oil from Gisou. Not only does the formula offer the honey, hyaluronic acid and fruit oil-based hydration that's made Gisou a leader in lip balms, but this new shimmery cherry tint is extremely flattering on all skin tones. In particular, it adds some much needed warmth as the weather turns chilly. I don't intend to travel without it.
