While the average size for a woman in the UK and Europe is a UK 14 to UK 16, there is often little representation when it comes to size-inclusive fashion. This is Citizen Femme’s guide on the brands to turn to.
The Vogue Business spring/summer 2025 size inclusivity report marked a dramatic decline in mid- to plus-sized models on the runway throughout fashion months this year, with plus-size runway models making up as little as 0.8 per cent of total models, and mid-size models measuring slightly higher at 3.7 per cent. Fashion week representation is trailing behind, but there are lots of brands leading the way when it comes to size range.
Slowly but surely, fashion brands – from high street to designer – are expanding their collections; encompassing a wider range of sizing, allowing stylish women to enhance their curves, looking and feeling good while doing so.
Finding clothing items to suit your body’s proportions and shape is the ultimate way to make your outfit look pulled together and expensive, no matter what size you wear. Here, we speak to the eternally-chic style influencer, Karina of The Style Idealist, about her favourite brands and style tips when dressing. We’re also sharing the CF team’s go-to, size-inclusive fashion brands that ensure comfortable and flattering shapes for all types of bodies.

An award-winning fashion influencer and writer, Karina knows a thing or two about the hottest brands of the season that are set to turn heads on the street. Plus, Karina has mastered the art of building a diverse and interchangeable wardrobe when shopping mid-size, by finding chic but wearable pieces to swap in and out of her daily uniform. Here’s how she does it.
How would you describe your personal style?
Feminine, effortless, oversized and fun. My journey to finding my personal style started with reassessing what I thought I could and couldn’t wear. Finding your own personal style after years of dressing ‘how you think you should’ is liberating. I would often shy away from colour or certain styles, but learning to experiment has really helped my confidence grow. It’s all about how clothes make you feel.
Which brands do you buy from and why?

Being curvier, the fabric quality and fit is so important, which is why I like to mix curated high-street pieces and well-considered investment pieces. I love Anine Bing, COS, and Arket for their casual basics, Agolde and Everlane are great for their curve denim, and Dissh and Reformation for their classic but elevated pieces.
What styles and silhouettes do you find suit you best?
I always like to make a note of the pieces, patterns, proportions, silhouettes and colours that I love – it makes getting dressed so much easier! I love the juxtaposition of an oversized mens blazer with a more fitted skirt silhouette.

When I’m not feeling particularly creative, I keep my outfit very simple but then add something unexpected to complete the look. I love adding friction to a simple outfit. For example, bright accessories, a textured bag, print shoes, feather trim jacket – why not? It’s something fun to add a bit of interest.
